He's one of the many people who use words that make others think that they are smart, when they are not. Unfortunately the only way to find out is for yourself. If you decide to try, start by looking into what he's actually qualified in and remember that when he's talking outside of his field..He's like a football fan that talks authoritatively about cycling, because he has learned the vocabulary.

It doesn't help you, but my ADT alarm is fine.

Whatever outage you are talking about clearly isn't affecting VT, which means Amazon's cluud services are still running.  I can tell you my employer's (large) Google estate is also unaffected (at least at the moment). Where are you hearing about a "global IT outage"?

Sky News isn't broadcasting, various airlines around the world reporting technical difficulties and have grounded planes amongst many other things. Appears to be a Microsoft issue

My wife just got back from the shop and she said it’s cash only as their card machines are down, I assume it’s the same issue.

If you’re feeling technical you could remove the fuse for the alarm and take out the backup battery pack which will be inside.

I think house alarms are limited to 20 minutes anyway aren’t they?

As big as both major cloud service providers

I've said it before and I'll probably have to say it for the rest of my life, I don't know why people use Microsoft for anything.
