That sucks Trekka, sorry to hear it.

I had a similar situation last year when one of my colleagues (and friends) died. It was pretty sudden. he'd been off ill but nobody knew it was life threatening (as it turns out we THINK he may have committed suicide, butt hat's another story)

We were all called into a meeting and told the news at lunchtime.

But the worst thing was I'd been told the night before by his best mate. So I rang my boss and he told me not to tell anyone and to wait until the director announced it.

So I had to sit there in the office all morning knowing he had died and not being able to tell anyone!

Anyone here give blood? I'm going in a few weeks for the first time and I'm terrified. I felt lightheaded and sick after having a blood test, I don't know whether I can cope with half a litre of blood.

Something I've always said I will do but haven't through fear. Advice?

It's hard getting the sample in the cup but the free porn is good ... Oh hang on i'm confusing my donations again aren't I , no wonder the NBS asked me to leave

Got a parking ticket today. My own stupid fault, I didn't didn't see the permit only signs, they were behind a transit van. The warden must have been waiting for me because I was away for 6 minutes.

It does make me wonder where the money from the tickets go though. I suspect towards paying the wardens wages.

Haven't they changed the grace period to 10 mins now ? Or is that just for overstaying a pay and display rather than parking illegally in resident bays ?

No grace period for me! I'm fairly certain the warden saw me drive in, let me park there without saying owt and then wrote me the ticket and ran off. Which is annoying because they obviously see their job to fine people rather than prevent illegal parking.

A quick shout 'you can't park there', would have done.

It was me birthday too, and I'd just got £30 in a card off me grandma.

My mate, for shits and giggles is cycling from john o groats to Gibraltar, he is currently at the foothills of the Pyrenees. He does things like this, usually for charity, he is an awesome individual.

Last one I got I wrote and appealed it , the early payment fee gets held whilst you appeal so you've got nothing to lose ... be polite and lay your excuse on a bit thick , I've got knackered knees so told the ticket appeal people that they quite often give me excessive pain and thus I couldn't walk back very quickly to my car :) ... They let me off got the letter the same day I played football :)

Be careful pal, you'll be on a BBC expose with that sort of behaviour.

I paid it up the same day. To be fair, I was parked illegally, albeit an honest mistake and for a very short amount of time.

I played football against Marcus Hall tonight.

We beat his team.

I was right back and he was their left back, so we came up against each other quite a lot. I held my own!

So I got a text message this evening from the boss who is ill (he sent it to the team).  It basically says (and I sorta-quote) he don't know how much longer he has left, he's proud of the team and the doc has said he can turn into an alchi if he wanted.  This was shortly followed up by a message to me personally saying how sorry he is for not being able to support me in my next promotion board, but he hopes to help in the meantime.

I'm in bits.  He's from Stourbridge too but moved down south when he joined the army.  He's also said even with the military background, he can't find the strength to "man up", but he will fight it all the way.

I've got two accounts on facebook, one open and one private. It's something they told me to as a journalist and it just means I can be a little open in private, share photos etc and for them not to be seen by those who add me on my 'media' account.

Basically, for the past few months I have been protesting charges being put on (long story, it affects and impacts business and workers - and nobody wanted it).

Anyway two fools/stooges have spent months antagonising me on my open account, these are usually great guys, but they seem to find it amusing that people will struggle to pay costs (again, long story).

Once again they started having a dig at me today - and I kept telling them I would explain my thoughts further later - and actually, my post about money/debt and charges this morning specifically stated that 'this is not finished and will be expanded on in a blog.'

This apparently left them confused. They spent hours sending me messages*, I got so fed up I sent them the research which backed up my claim, apparently this meant I have an ego.

*I was in a really important meeting today, my phone kept buzzing. In my break I checked and had 54 notifications, 51 from them! I chose to delete the thread in order to stop it, but then got called a lefty.  which is now being sent to me constantly... twitter... facebook... I actually think this one guy is unstable - just going from his posts on his timeline. He's usually a nice guy too!

Anyway they have made my life hell today and to cap it off one of the guys has SEARCHED!!!! for my private account (its not under my name, he had to have looked for it!) and is posting it around - including to his double act.

I've never felt so stressed! I've closed down a few private accounts to let it blow over. Honestly though, it has caused me so much stress today..!

So you couldn't tempt Marcus to hold it for you but did he at least give it a little stroke ?

It's my brother's birthday.  It's also my birthday!  We aren't twins - I was born on his 9th birthday.  He went and ruined it though by getting married on the same day.  So it's no longer "our day" but their wedding anniversary.  Fool! I'm off to Skegness later (bloody Skegness!) to meet up with them (god help me).

I've got ... accounts on facebook....

There's your problem right there. ;)

beaten to it because I had breakfast before checking in...

The amount of negative stuff that people on facebook say about being on facebook makes being on facebook sound so unappealing.

I don't mind facebook, but that's mainly because I don't look at it. There was a time when I felt left out for not having it, whereas now it's just 'there' in the background, like a mole on my back that I never get round to checking.

The problem is, I run social media accounts for people and a lot of work comes via Facebook. I'd happily **** it all off tbh!

Why is this bad? You can hide every single post you have on facebook so nobody can see it. You can also set it so nobody can add you as a friend and you have to add them. All they will be doing is sending a facebook name which they cant get any information on? i dont get the problem hehe

This is why it is creepy, everything was hidden on the other account. He has gone out and spent time looking for anything which could be me. The profile pic was a shadow of me and of course, I share a few friends similar to my other account. Stalked good and proper.
