irreverentad
Ok so what does everyone have on their pancakes? I go for either plain (which is my preferred choice) or lemon (no sugar)
Eames
Maple syrup. Little Chef used to do one with cherries in syrup and vanilla ice cream that was EPIC.

irreverentad
Bacon & Maple Syrup or Lemon & Caster Sugar for me. Cannot stand that combo. Went to Canada last year and they drizzle that crap on EVERYTHING. Bacon, Sausages, Sweets etc
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
it's all about a crepe suzette. failing that, it's american style pancakes (buttermilk) with bacon and eggs. basically a fry.
Shillzz
I find it contrasts with salty bacon quite well. Just like having sweet tomato ketchup on a bacon sarnie, a drizzle of maple syrup on your bacon pancake is something rather special.
wiggyrichard
Lemon juice and sugar or ice cream and Baileys.

mjmooney Posted February 21, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted February 21, 2012 We do this thread every year. So, once more with feeling: We don't do the thin crepe-style pancakes, we do blinis - small, slightly raised, Russian style, served with sour cream and smoked salmon or caviar, and washed down with either very dry white wine, or (for preference) severely chilled vodka: For dessert, sweetened versions of the same thing (i.e. from Russian to American style), with butter, whipped cream and maple syrup, accompanied by proper coffee:

irreverentad
Has anyone made the school boy error that I did?.... when in the states I had pancakes for breakfast. I received my hearty meal and thought my mouth needed refreshing. I scooped up the white ball on top believing it to be cooling vanilla ice cream. It wasn't it was whipped butter! I started masticating and my mouth was awash with fatty slimy butter and nothing else. Being the polite Brit I did not want to spit it out, so I ran to the bathroom and hurled!
