Kind of a national institution over there for some weird reason. Naff but regarded as charming. I think there are still cultural differences. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the American comedy movies (NatLamp, Police Academy, Porky's, etc.) appealed more to a teenage audience. While I tend to stereotype the Carry Ons (which was from a generation earlier anyway) as being mainly enjoyed by middle aged working class types.

Popular Post Chindie Posted June 2, 2023 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted June 2, 2023 1 hour ago, VILLAMARV said: So VT, collective hive mind question that people will be wiser than me on. Andrew Tate. I'm aware he's an internet idiot. I believe from a brief scan of his output and his write ups on wikipedia and so on that he's just a mysogenistic steroid head full of his own self importance. However it seems a male relative of mine is a bit taken with him, so I feel I should take more than just a passing interest or do more than what my instincs are telling me which is to just ignore him and/or his infamy. So what's his deal? What's he actually done or said? Is he really pro-rape? There's some BBC output on this I hear but as it's me I won't be watching will I? I just want to prepare myself with a bit more knowledge as I feel at some point in the not too distant future I'm going to have to try and unpick some of the stuff imbibed on the youtubes and use a bit of logic, rationale and actual facts to do so. Tate is a nasty right wing grifter. He has created a mash up of gym bro, hard right and incel talking points and used them to market himself as guru of how to live as a successful man. He charged £50 a month for the basic right to hear his bile until recently - more of you wanted to have high level access to him. His views are outright misogynistic. He advocates a world view that pushes women as objects to be used and controlled. He has questionable positions on sexual assault. He views men that sleep around as winners and women who do as whores. He ran his 'cam girl' business from Romania largely because he felt the authorities there would allow him more freedom to run it as he liked (which raises a lot of questions about what that means). He also promotes a type of 'masculinity' that is basically a consolidation of various character flaws and arguably might generate or encourage mental health issues. He rejects the existence of depression and markets it as a mental weakness that only the pathetic can't overcome. He advocates ends justifies the means type mindset - this boils down to advocating low level scam and exploitation methodologies to make money at its lowest and promotes a dog eat dog philosophy where if you're capable of running a scam then you deserve to benefit from the people weak/stupid enough to fall for it. He's not a good role model. He promotes an image that appeals to a certain kind of teenage boy - he's surrounded by hot women, he's lavished in the frippery of a rich successful man with big houses, flash cars, big watches, cigars, he's in shape and his early life was one of being a pro kick boxer - and then sells that dream as being derived from his thoughts on life and his mindset. He embodies the hyper confident, hyper masculine, alpha bellend persona. He tries to sell himself as a kick ass intellectual. He's actually a clearing in the woods. 7

From my experience he has a fair following from grown men who's wives have left them because they're a massive word removed but it's definitely her fault
VILLAMARV
cheers @Chindie. One of the articles I read said (in passing) that he was supportive of double barrelled professional numbnuts and convicted fraudster Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. That made me wonder to what extent? was he putting out vids where he thought illegally filming trials outside of courts was ok or is he a fully paid up member of the white supremacists? In regards to my relative, I think ultimately I'll ask a lot of questions. Try and learn from him what the appeal is for him. I suppose really the question is, are logical discussions welcome? If they are then there are meaningful conversations to be had and so on, if not then attempting to tackle something more ingrained is beyond my experience so far in life.

Only time I struggled all year was during the Brighton game but I imagine it was due to the constant checking of scores.

No. During games, you get shown signal, but there is no bandwidth available. I'm moving to EE tomorrow.

Popular Post chrisp65
Went over the parent’s house, on their fridge my dad had written ‘love you’, under that my mum has written ‘love you’, under that my brother has written ‘I love you both xxx’. Under that, I’ve now drawn a hairy cock n balls with an arc of spunk dashes. And we wait… 2
