Durrr
Did he make mistakes? Yes, placing Anelka and Alex in the reserves and ousting Lampard and Drogba immediately. Lampard started twenty league matches prior to Villas-Boas being fired, only Cech, Cole and Mata started more. Not sure how that is 'ousting (him) immediately'. Yes, but if you had read reports and the Chelsea forums it was common knowledge that AVB was set to replace him. That's what I mean by ousting him, perhaps immediately was the wrong word to use in the context of Lampard. Also, 20 league games? Before AVB came in Lampard was one of the first names on the team sheet, so it was obvious he was reducing his role and looking to get rid. GlastonSpur
You going to stay at WHL while it's redeveloped or going to play at Wembley for a season or what? Since most of the new stadium will adjacent to current one, except for one "side", we'll be able to carry on playing in the old stadium - albeit with reduced capacity for a period when the final "side" of the new stadium is being built. There was a fair amount of speculation in the press, but most of it came from mates of Lampard, people like Matt Dickinson and Ian McGarry, the preasure heaped onto AVB was ridiculous, comparatively to the likes of McLeish. McLeish was never under any pressure from the media. Yes i know you can say the expectations of each club are different but the fact is both clubs were performing poorly. He got given no leeway, while Mcleish was afforded complete comfort, it was only fan pressure which told in the end, while Chelsea fans on the whole were quite philosophical about it all, willing to give him time to rebuild Chelsea. Brumstopdogs
I read on Sky that AVB has been given the Tottenham post. I thought it was a bit of a boring task for his first day
MMFy
So Spurs sack Harry Redknapp (who finished in the Top 4) and replace him with Andre Villas-Boas (who caused Chelsea to finish outside the Top 4 for the first time in years. Great logic there Daniel Levy. Football isn't black and white like that though, is it? No. If you're TRS-T, it's more blue and white...

Absolutely this. All that was said about McLeish was Villa fans wouldn't give him a chance because of the Blues connection. The media only started to highlight the dire, dross football under McLeish around March or so, which is nothing short of a disgrace. Over the years managers have been hung out to dry a lot sooner than McLeish.
Voinjama
The media only cottoned on to Mcleish's inability to manage a football club after that shambolic home defeat to Bolton. Overnight the media got on his case. But then again I was not living in the country at the time so...............

BOF Posted July 6, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 6, 2012 Aye, that they did. But Sralec has been a Modric fan since before he signed for Spurts and that has ramped up since he succeeded in the PL.
