AVFC-Prideofbrum
Shit record vs Portsmouth at home. There shit. an early goal and will be big like Fulham game. Either 0-0 or 3-0.
AVFC-Prideofbrum
Oh and as for team: Friedel Young Dunne Collins Warnock -------Petrov--Reo-Coker------ ---Milner----Sids----------Young ---------------Gabby------------- Delph and Carew hopefully on at some point though! Don_Simon
This will be my first game of the season, thus excitment is tremendous! I'd like to see 4-4-2 in this game, we have the capability to get a few goals. Also, with MON insinuating there will be more squad rotation this season, i'd like to see Delph get a full 90 minutes. Maybe take out the totally ineffectual Sidders? However, in MON i trust!
Hanky
I'd go same team as today. They won't be able to deal with Young, Milner and Agbonlahor. We've got options if not working which is what we haven't had in a while.
Mr_Dogg
We will almost certainly play 4-4-2 and I'd have no problem with that against an atrocious team like Pompey.
nepal_villan
go for the kill! Carew-Gabby Young-Delph-Petrov/NRC-Milner

AVFC-Prideofbrum
Ben Haim, Kaboul at the back, if we don't win this 2/3-0, it'll be dissapointing although obviously 3 points is the main thing! Worried about their pace on the break but we SHOULD have enough.
Phumfeinz
We're notorious for letting teams end bad streaks against us so I expect a draw or loss. I know I know, how very depressing.
Rodders
Anything less than a resounding win is poor yep. this is a pompey side missing so many of it's former key players. And whilst James may have a blinder, he should not prevent us winning. They've lost 5 in a row, there should be no sympathy in making that 6. Anything less than a win will be awful. Undesirable
I'd go with the same team that beat the scum but maybe play Delph ahead of Sidders to add a bit more of an attacking threat and provide support for Gabby.
NulliSecundus
Isn't this a 1245 ko instead of the 3pm on the title? If we can't win this IMO, it's going to be a long season...
Jon
MON will surely go 4-4-2 in this one. That being said, i expect: Young L BinDunne Cuellar/Undertaker Warnock Asher Stan Sidders Milly JC Gabby

Condimentalist
I'd go with the same team as against sha, but give Delph a go in midfield in place of Sidwell.
TrentVilla Posted September 14, 2009 Moderator Share Posted September 14, 2009 I think there will be a few changes from Saturday, I think we will switch to a 442 formation with Carew coming in up front and I think we will see Delph make an appearance. Jez
Personally this is one of those games that last season we would have lost or drawn with an unspectacular display imo. Hopefully we can establish ourselves a little more buy winning games like this. Its certainly not easy, Pompey are shit at the moment but its the old cliche of no easy games in the premier league. Delph possibly in for Sidwell, give him a rest..
sled
We hardly ever seem to play too well against Pompey and results aren't all that marvellous. We hardly ever seem to play too well against Fulham and results aren't all that marvellous. We weren't spectacularly good against Fulham the other week but we beat them comfortably enough. We have since added to our defensive strength. Birmingham did little to test it. Portsmouth are likely to do even less. I hope MON doesn't start with a 4-4-2 but if he does it may be excusable and understandable. I'd prefer him to do just what he did against small heath alliance - start with a 4-5-1 and change to 4-4-2 with another of those exquisitely-timed substitutions. For me ideally just the one change to the starting lineup: Delph for Sidwell. Pompey may have quite a job scoring. Whoops, just realised Jez has said much the same.
