Stevo985 Posted April 23, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted April 23, 2009 I've put was great but lost it. I don't necessarily think he's lost it though, just that his most recent films haven't been great. i think Inglorious Bastards looks good though so hopefully that will be back to his best. Wainy316
Only 2 'great' films as director.
Nigel Posted April 23, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted April 23, 2009 There is no option for anything between 'Genius' and 'lost it'. Personally I think when on form he is an excellent director. He has obviously made some classics and I really like his style and values, but to call him a genius is a little over the top.
villa4europe
Only 2 'great' films as director. im guessing pulp fiction and dogs? personally i thought j brown was brilliant, and kill bill vol 1 was right up there
Stevo985 Posted April 23, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted April 23, 2009 agreed. Those 4 films (Dogs, Pulp, Kill Bill and J Brown) are all brilliant films. Since then he's gone down hill.

IMO of course. Don't ge time wrong, enjoyed J.Brown and Kill Bill, but they weren't in the same league as pulp and dogs.
Risso
I liked Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs at the time, but they haven't stood the test of time in my opinion. I thought Kill Bill was one of the most overrated films of all time. NO plot, and just a Tarantino vanity piece when he shoehorned in as many references to comics and other stuff as he could. Rubbish.
ender4
what about True Romance which Tarantino wrote? i liked that film.

Stevo985 Posted April 23, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted April 23, 2009 Hostel is **** shit. Up there with Saw (excluding the first one) for just being the lowest form of film making in my eyes. Althought the totty is good, admittedly.
ender4
He also wrote: Natural Born Killers (then disowned it when Oliver Stone wrecked the making of it) From Dusk till Dawn - brilliant film Grindhouse - The Death-Proof section and directed a section of Sin City
