chrisp65
I currently have a bit of an obsession with this particular track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY1RYTbpCqo Mungo's HiFi though, very lovely, picked up a couple of 7" singles but they are next on my album hit list.
PongRiddims
Excellent I've synced a couple of Mungo Hifi albums and that Trojan Dub on my Spotify to listen to at work today thank you dubfriends
PongRiddims
Put the new DJ Yoda album on yesterday, massively underwhelmed. Some of his past production is fantastic, but I'd say 75% of the album is Mark Ronson Lite rubbish, really disappointed.

hogso
Explained, or tried at least, what gabba is/was to the girly earlier today, and put on some examples. She said it was awful but it did lead me to this video which is pretty excellent, and really made me laugh.

PongRiddims
Love that video, I saw it on a clip show once (probably some channel 4 rent-a-memory off Stuart Maconie type thing) and they interviewed the woman. Unsurprisingly she didn't know the fella she was dancing with. They just don't make raves like that any more.
chrisp65
Lion Vibes Quote Great news for London’s dub scene: a new reggae specialist shop has opened doors in Brixton Village. A straight up dub vendor, the new shop will deal exclusively in Jamaican sounds, from the 1960s right up to the present day open Thursdays to Sundays......and I'm in Brixton a week Friday.....

On a similar vibe, I mentioned it in the documentary thread, but have you seen there's a new film about Scratch coming out, in the next few months? Filmed over 15 years, and looks ace. Off to see him playing Super Ape in March too. Mad Professor supporting, so could be special.
chrisp65
yep, I'm waiting on that film, it should be 'different' I still haven't got my tickets for March - nothing for months and 2 shows I want to go to opposite ends of the country 2 weekends running - can't do both.
useless
Judging by their website they seem pretty expensive, but then I'm not sure what the going rate for those kinds of records normally is. Honest Jons seem to stock a lot of Reggae and Dub type stuff.

Maybe a tad expensive, but a fantastic selection. I probably shouldn't have looked, as I could spend a lot of money on that website.
chrisp65
Always worth a look! But yes, I'm personally quite price sensitive, when you've got Sounds of the Universe off Tottenham Court Road with some real bargains in it, it could be a browse and then back on the tube. Prices in lots of places do all seem to be a bit random at the moment, I guess people are testing the resurgent market to see what all the newbies will pay.
chrisp65
on the subject of price....£25!!!!! though if you'd like it to cost more, you could always wait a few months for it to arrive in HMV Coltrane Quote The Original Stereo Album, Impulse! Xann
He is Paddy. Though his surroundings are rapidly changing. Gentrification has bit here too. There's a wine bar, bicycle cafe and an American style dinerette in there now.

Yeah, but other than a couple of very specific tube commutes, a couple of streets around Hammersmiff and a working knowledge of Hoxton Square sandwich shops for the rest of London I'm still very much in tourist mode. I try not to go in areas that don't have organic cereal bar start ups or trendy shipping container tattoo shops.
