He’s not a patch on Connery, Brosnan or Dalton (who is totally underrated as Bond). I think Casino Royale was decent but Craig should’ve stopped there and done a Lazenby. Ive yet to see the latest but not in a rush to see it mainly because of Craig and I haven’t been enamoured with the recent storylines. Thank you for saying this. Bond purists and friend of mine who are Bond enthusiasts and who's opinion I value, all agree that Dalton was the best Bond and most true to the books. He was hampered by poorly funded movies (compared to the Stallone/Swarzenegger extravaganzas of the day) and also it was the height of the Aids crisis. There was a concerted effort to minimize Bond's sexscapades which made both movies seem like PG wet noodles. He nailed the character - the scripts and story were very so so.
Big Salad
Watched 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance' last night. I've watched a lot of Westerns in my life and still think this is the best one ever made; just fantastic. 10/10

I have a soft spot for the show and I'm excited to see what they do with the movie. A lot of the tunes have grown on me over the years. There are actually a lot of prevalent points in the story that resonate loudly in today's world of Trump, racism and fake news BS. Also the beginning of the VT meme of 'no socks Stevo' was when @Stevo985 came to NYC and I gave him a backstage tour (KW please.) There's a pic of me and him - I am wearing knee high, rat-repellant, steel toe-capped winter clogger boots. Stevo is in loafers sans socks the goddamn big girls blouse. How wonderful! It is a great show, and unlike a handful of other hugely popular contemporary Broadway shows, I was surprised by not only how much I liked it on first viewing - but how much more I enjoyed it on repeated viewings. I didn't realise the Stevie Sans Socks connection - I appreciate the VT history lesson. If we had a wiki...
Seat68
There are very very few of us out and proud musical theatre enthusiasts here on VT. Wicked is marvellous and should make a great film, but then what do I know as I enjoyed Cats. Ariana Grande has a hell of a voice so should be interesting to see her back acting. Not sure why Menzel and Chenoweth aren't playing a role, maybe their voices are no longer up to it. Unsure.

Agreed, Licence to Kill was definitely one of the better Bond films since the end of Sean Connery's reign. Like in The Living Daylights, Timothy Dalton did a decent job as Bond. Had a real change in direction this one. It was gritty and at times quite violent but this change was welcome to the franchise. The cinematography was solid, and the soundtrack was very decent. Definitely a Bond film worth watching and remembering.

Designer1 Posted November 7, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted November 7, 2021 Talking of Craig Fairbrass, the best film he's done by far is Muscle. He's actually brilliant (no seriously) in that.

troon_villan
Watched Army of Thieves on Netflix last night - assumed it would be bang average but was pleasantly surprised with it. Obviously Nathalie Emmanuel is worth the entrance fee alone. Interesting fact - I was on a stag do about 4/5 years ago organised by Stuart Martin (the guy who plays Brad Cage) as he was my mates best man. Pretty cool guy and very handsome in real life!
