Popular Post stewiek2
So just got out of seeing Bond. Really really good. You can tell Daniel Craig himself has a heavy hand in the story arc. It borrows alot regards it's themes from OHMSS. And certainly bits of The Dark Knight Rises. The two bits the reviews are saying will have fans agahst I wouldn't say are plot twists as such and I double guessed certainly one of them. It's worth seeing, but Casino Royale is certainly Craig's best Bond. I'd say this is almost on a par with Skyfall. Probably less dull in places than Skyfall got. And as for the running time, it didn't feel like a 2hr 46min film at all. Edited October 1, 2021 by stewiek2 3
theunderstudy
Watched Bond last night. Man oh man is it good. Really enjoyed it and felt a lot shorter than it's running length. Glad I went to see it off the bat. 3

There's also a certain shot in it that I would have stood up and applauded in the cinema if I hadn't looked like a word removed. Genuinely cannot wait to watch it again and it's a first day Blu ray purchase for me. Each to their own eh? Damnit, will have to consider giving it another go, I need to watch it with the right person to get in to it.

Popular Post mikeyp102
Free Guy is really fun, and clever concept. And the odd little poke at Marvel and Star Wars as all owned by the same group. Ryan Reynolds is Ryan Reynolds, but he is so good at doing it.

mykeyb
Watched NTTD last night and others have said it doesn't feel like a 3hrs 40+ film as it flies by. Miss Armas is criminally underused. Malik's villain is just rubbish if I honest. The ending has a massive impact on how I feel about the film but would still recommend it. 7.5 out of

Genuinely cannot wait to watch it again and it's a first day Blu ray purchase for me. Each to their own eh? I also liked the new Candyman, going in having expected the worst. But with real caveats. I admire that it went for a bleaker, more mournful tone and it's very strikingly directed in parts. I do wonder, however, if Jordan Peele's voice is too strong in the screenplay, and I do find the construction of his 'social critiques' to be a little sterile and artificial. The lurch between a sense of impending doom and all-out madness was indelicately handled, and the climax, whilst very well conceived, underwhelms in its execution. Lovely shadow puppetry though! Not a given these days! But there's some really strong stuff in there, albeit scattered, a little abstractly, around the film. Was wondering what the shot you allude to was? In a wee spoilers box if needs be.
Shomin Geki
Also didn't care for the new Bond. Found it pretty inert and at times somewhat incoherent. In spirit and emotion as much as plot. It's a curiously joyless film, that struggles for rhythm, and never really attains any sense of grandeur it might be aiming for. It's a shame as I find Craig very compelling as Bond. I just honestly get the sense that, after the shot-in-the-arm salvo of Casino Royale, they're not really sure what to do with him. Or, after the pooch pulled himself so free of the lead last time out, there's anxiety about what he might do if he really gets free. In the manner of the Pierce Brosnan Bonds retrospectively looking like products of the long, bland nineties, I wonder if we'll come to think of the Craig Bonds as a missed opportunity. It also has, as has been pointed out elsewhere, something of a feeling of being made by committee. But I s'pose that's much of the world today, eh? YGabbana
That was Craigs worst Bond for me. I was really disappointed. Far too many woke moments and alot of filler material.
ferguson1
Interesting read above of what people think of the new Bond movie. I’m all booked to watch it next Friday with Mrs F and looking forward to it. So far, I’ve enjoyed Daniel Craig as Bond. Casino Royale and Skyfall being very enjoyable, Spectre reasonable to decent, but Quantum very disappointing.

Spoiler The murder of the critic, where the main character is walking away from the building and she gets killed in the background. I thought it was exceptional.

It's Your Round
Watched the new Bond film last night, I really rated it. I’m not a James Bond super fan, in fact this is the first Daniel Craig Bond film I’ve seen! But I enjoyed it, and might watch the others now. I have read a lot of bad reviews though, I’m sure some people just want to criticise to try to show how clever they are. When really they come across as clearings in the woods. We all see things differently though.
Popular Post MaVilla
I'm super excited for Dune. I first read Dune when i was a teenager in the 90s, since then i have probably read Dune (the main book) 10+ times over the years, and i have also read the full Frank Herbert book series (Dune through to Chapterhouse), and overall, i would say its the book series that had the biggest impact on me as a young teenager. Having Villeneuve do his thing with it is so exciting, i have seen that the reviews have mostly been draw dropping, and to finally see my favourite book series put in to a proper, jaw dropping movie (the 80s film was bleh imo), has made me decide to go to the cinema for the first time in 15 years lol. Anyone else looking forward to Dune?
