Sly
Watched 'Paris, Texas' last night... Holy shit. Great film. Fairly slow moving in parts, but it grips you from the start and is shrouded in enough mystery to keep you interested throughout. Also includes a couple of inspired scenes in the form of Harry Dean Stanton and his long-lost son mimicking a funky walk home from school, plus the legendary porno-theatre, 'you can't see me, but I can see you' monologue between Stanton and his stunning ex-wife. The Texas landscapes and score also add some points to a remarkable film. 9/

dAVe80
Saw 'Away Days' the other week. Much better than I thought it would be. Not just another 'cor blimey guvna, we're a bunch o' chirpy Jack the lad, Cocknee, Lav-a-duck hoolie flick'. Enjoyed the Quadrophenia-esque ending too. maqroll
"Matewan", a great film from John Sayles, that depicts a story that revolves around an actual set of events that occured with West Virginia coal miners and their Pittsburgh masters back in the early 1920's. Briliant movie.

Jez
Moon and Triangle, both interesting for different reasons. Neither perfect but make up for it with interesting stories.
Stevo985 Posted October 23, 2009 VT Supporter Share Posted October 23, 2009 Cheers Jez, I was considering Triangle, may watch it now as I tend to agree with a lot of your views on films. On another note, started watching Hotel Rwanda last night for the first time. Didn't know what to expect but what I've seen so far has been great, so that's a recommendation. Bit depressing mind. Sly
On a Halloween related note... 'Trick R Treat' comes out on DVD Monday. Well worth a purchase. One of the most intelligent horror films I've seen for a while.
