useless
Watched Hanagatami which is a recent movie directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, who also directed 'Hausu' which is one of my favorite films, this might be even better... Haven't seen many from the past decade but this is one of the best if not the best films I've seen from the 2010s. useless
Also watched Gremlins 2: The New Batch, which I really liked a lot, started off thinking that it was nowhere near as good as the original but by the end wasn't sure.
villa4europe
Theres a good key and peele comedy sketch about the making of gremlins 2 1
theboyangel
My god, Spectre is one of the dullest Bond films ever. It perfectly matches the insipid theme tune by Sam Smith (?) too.
Rodders
Little Women by Greta Girwig is (predictably) great. I came into it cold, I had never read the book, seen other versions of it or had any awareness of the story at all so cannot compare with other films, but this version was so sympathetically warm to all it's characters, it is funny and moving and the performances are all terrific. It could have ended up overly saccharine in places but it does well to avoid that. Having re-watched Fighting with My Family only a day or two before I kept wondering why Amy March was so familiar - before I realised it was Florence Pugh. Apart from Casino Royale (possibly the best Bond ever) and Skyfall, Bond has been awful for 20 ish years

KenjiOgiwara
Just watched The Irishman on flix. Swear listening to Al Pacino or Jimmy Hoffa rant about this and that in the court room, gave me associations to a more intelligent, softer, stabile version of the current US president. That's how mental the world has become.
andyjsg Posted January 2, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted January 2, 2020 Took the kids to Spies In Disguise and it was quite fun. Also watched the Hellboy Reboot on Netflix - turgid shite!

I loved it, it's far from perfect and the accents are ridiculous but it was far more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I can see plenty of people hating it & thinking it is complete shit though

I shall be going to the cinema to watch it again as I doubt my laptop gives the full immersion a big screen will provide. It's incredible and makes the Goodfellas "one shot" look like a vine. Rodders
Jojo Rabbit is fecking wonderful. Film of the year / decade so far. Very funny and tender. Don't understand the sniffiness from some quarters. They seem to miss the point entirely.
