NowDoINotLikeThat
Just thought Drag Me To Hell was quite shit myself and disappointing (given it got some pretty decent reviews). Certainly no Evil Dead
VillaAlex
Army of Darkness is my fave of his. Didn't like Drag me to Hell either, thought the ending was crap and was quite a boring film for Sam Raimi.

makouns_grin
'kin hell, I am apparently alone in the world in loving Drag Me To Hell. It's Sam Raimi does Night of the Demon! Or is that why everyone hates it? I like it. I think a lot people take it far too seriously, its meant to be bonkers, ridiculous and funny. If you thinking the first attack by the old hag is serious and you dont think its funny you might as well turn off there Its like a watered down Evil Dead. Best thing about Spider Man 2 is the 'evil dead' scene
Wainy316
Drag me to hell is quite funny but that's the only positive.

mjmooney Posted May 16, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted May 16, 2011 Gone With The Wind starting on TCM2 now. Think I'll record it. Along with Casablanca it's one I really should watch and get out of the way as it were.Prediction: you won't like GWTW, you WILL like Casablanca. Let us know. Two good ones for me over the weekend: Flawed masterpiece that could have done with some heavy editing, but a STAGGERINGLY good performance by Tilda Swinton. If you're not a Dylan fan, don't even think of watching this. If you are, don't miss it.
Designer1 Posted May 16, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted May 16, 2011 Good shout on Julia there Mike. I'm looking forward to seeing how Tilda Swinton does in the movie version of 'We need to talk about Kevin'. I think it calls for someone as good as her to tackle that role. I enjoyed 'I'm not there' too. Thought Cate Blanchett was her usual excellent self.

CVByrne
Man I can't wait to see tree of life, anyone know when it's sure for release. I'm fully aware that the tease date means nothing given the delays this movie has had., But at least it aired at cannes

hogso
My german blu ray (because the blu ray hasnt been released here) of Enter the Void arrived yesterday. **** glorious. Paz de la Huerta is really **** annoying in everything shes ever in, buts thats really the only down side for me. It's uncut aswell, including the extra reel that was removed from the european theatrical version. Noe so quality. His next film is going to be a 3D HD porno apparently ^-^
briggaman
Saw that when it was out at the cinema a while ago and liked it. Great performances from the two leads as well. On the whole 'Drag Me To Hell' thing, I really enjoyed it. It's probably one of my favourite horror films in recent years, if you can even describe it as that. It is more of a throwback to how things used to be done and for that I have immense praise for it. I thought it was hilarious and provided some jumps to go with it. Plus some pretty weird and freaky scenes that just seemed to work really well. I liked the lead actress as well, for both the way she played the role and because she is stunning. I'm more of a fan of this type of film than the recent shite that has been coming out. I have been down with Tonsillitis lately but finely got to see '13 Assassins' and 'Hanna'. I recommend both of these, especially '13 Assassins'. I would actually put that amongst my favourite films of the year. Terrific throughout and if you get the chance to see it then do so. 'Hanna' on the other hand was hot and cold to some degree. The action scenes were well done yet I thought it dragged at other times. It also seemed a little pretentious throughout and that was a nagging feeling that I was left with. It is worth a watch though and is a solid enough film throughout, despite its flaws. It's a great movie and the reason why Takashi Miike is one of my favourite directors is evident throughout. He does ridiculous and OTT very well, but he's also very capable of toning things down and giving a more straightforward story a great visual treatment. He's certainly not a one-key director. He's mad as a box of frogs of course, but that's a bonus sometimes. Second VillaAlex recommendation of Maria Full of Grace too, very good watch. Stu_The_Villan
Cheers; 'Fast Five' was never an option Hanna looks good alright. Thor has a surprisingly high 7.6 rating on IMDb. Attack the Block is the best thing currently out imo. That and Submarine and have been the best films for me so far this year. I honestly dont think i could bring myself to watch it. All this 'ya get me blud' and 'u know what im sayin bruv innit' really does do my head in.
