mikeyp102
Ok, i thought it seemed very low. 9 films seen before 1980 - Star Wars (77) , Alien (79), Some like it Hot (59), 2001 Space Odyssey (68), Wizard of Oz (39), Rocky (76), The Exorcist (73), Jungle Book (67), Grease (78). Though that still only makes 5 films seen before 1976 - Some like it Hot (59), 2001 Space Odyssey (68), Wizard of Oz (39), The Exorcist (73), Jungle Book (67). I've gone through the IMDB top 250 and can't see any others before 1976. You can't have looked that hard there's tons. Off the top of my head... Once Upon A Time in The West The Good, The Bad, The Ugly One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest Casablanca 12 Angry Men Dr Strange love It's a Wonderful Life The Third Man ... Are all in the top 100 and are all brilliant. But he may not have seen those. Of yours listed I haven't seen five of them...

leemond2008
Just wandering how old Ender4 is to have seen so few films from before the 80's, I'm 27 and I have seen tons of them but to people 10 years younger than me them films probably seem ancient
leemond2008
hang on I'm 29 not 27, I actually thought about how old I was before I posted that as well, that's quite worrying

Stevo985 Posted October 1, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted October 1, 2014 Some people are like that though. My housemate currently. He likes films, but he doesn't watch many old ones. I had die hard on the one day and he asked "is this the Bruce Willis one?" Then once I replied that it was, he sheepishly asked "... is that bruce willis?" It was. But the fact that he had to ask for confirmation kind of shocked me!

I watch around 2 films a week, but they are new films as they come out. I can't go back over the past 80 years and watch all the old stuff. Plus the style is so different, i feel like i'm watching an alien film, it doesn't engross me the way a modern film does (it may just be in my head). I think we've had this conversation before, but i've only ever seen 1 film in B&W in my life (i think). and no, i haven't seen Schindlers List yet. Stevo985 Posted October 1, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) There's a fair few modern (ish) black and white films that are excellent. American History X, The Artist, Nebraska, Memento (is that black and white? In my head it is) and Clerks Persepolis too, although not sure if that counts as it's animated. to name a few Edited October 1, 2014 by Stevo985
