CarewsEyebrowDesigner
I recently finished reading the Great Gatsby and whilst I was still in the zone I decided to watch the movie. I liked the actors, looking at it though it didn't feel like I was watching something from the 1920's I easily knew it was all recent without even thinking about it. Plus it kind of had cartoonish feel to it, that and the soundtrack made it feel completely out of wack with the book for me. I adore the book, really, I've read it a gazillion times, and I've no intention of ever watching the films. No reason for it to be a film, tbh. villarule123 Posted January 16, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I watched Goodfellas again last night after someone saying about it on here got me in the mood for it. It's absolute perfection, The Godfather is the clasical gangster movie, Goodfells is the rock n roll one. 10/10 for me easily. De Niro, Pesci & Liotta all superb. I almost knocked 0.5 off the score because of Liotta's annoying laugh. Going to watch Casino again later, which is essentially Goodfellas 2. Your not missing out in my view, I probably should have just read another of Fitzgerald's books if I was still in that frame of mind. If the movie is peoples only experience of the story then that's too sad and they're missing out majorly.
Zatman
havent seen trailer or anything but going by the cast Child 44 looks like being one of films of year. Paddy Considine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy and I like Joel Kinnaman as well
darrenm
Watched The Way, Way Back last night. Fantastic film. Sam Rockwell's on fire. Anyway, I watched a couple of horror films as a kid which have always stuck with me but I don't know what they are. I watched them in the mid-80s at irresponsible grandparents' houses. The first one was a short fat midget dancing on a stage with semi-naked women around him, then there are blood-splattered plastic curtains up everywhere. Then this blokes wife is coming his hair and sees the number 666 and knows he's the devil. The second one is a bit more hazy. I just remember someone killing a women and putting the naked body onto the back of a flatbed truck with a tarpaulin over it. Any ideas on either? I remember there being a dwarf in that and she was a dancer.

AshVilla
Wolf of wall street 7/10 Fair play to DiCaprio he was good in this movie I almost get the impression it was a natural performance by him and he actually behaves like that in real life
darrenm
I liked the above post for the use of the word "Concatenating" outside of Microsoft Excel. The use of concatenating is protected under the LGPL 3.0 and, as such, is incompatible with being used in a sentence mentioning closed source proprietary software. The only authorised use of my version of 'concatenating' is in relation to the GNU tool 'cat'. Expect a call from my lawyers.
