Tomaszk
Really enjoyed Star Trek: Into Darkness. Cumberbatch is excellent. Alice Eve Edited January 6, 2014 by Tomaszk
donnie
Drive....a solid 7.5/10watching this on I player atm 30mins in and I've barely heard anyone talk... just looking around and intense staring and awkward silence. You know theres more to movies other then mindless dialogue and noisey explosions like we see with most blockbusters these days Cinematography, atmosphere, soundtrack, etc if done well all combine to make for a great movie. myko
The Place Beyond the Pines was probably the best film I watched last year. Proper good, definitely worth a watch! Edited January 6, 2014 by myko

BOF Posted January 6, 2014 Moderator Share Posted January 6, 2014 Cumberbatch is excellent. He does tend to exaggerate his annunciation but yeah he's good.

kurtsimonw
Watched a bunch on Saturday with my 2 best mates as it was pissing it down. Sightseers - Good little British movie, some funny/dark humour. Far better than I expected it to be. Beasts of the Southern Wild - Just really boring and lacked any real point/story IMO. Definitely would avoid watching it a 2nd time. Taxi Driver - Not much has to be said, fantastic De Niro. Goodfellas - Ashamed to say I'd only seen bits of this previously. Never been a big Ray Liotta fan but thought he was really good in this, Pesci was awesome!

That really doesn't matter. It's because whenever someone tried to speak.... ...so no one could get a word in edge ways. Anyway, surely no one can dislike a film that has these two songs in the soundtrack? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DSVDcw6iW8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K7rmxjk5RQ
AVFCDAN
Watched some good films recently, nothing particularly mainstream. Sightseers - probably a 7/10 film , some good characters especially the lead bloke, interesting film and worth a watch. Crazy, stupid love - Ryan gosling basically plays himself, strange little film really, one minute it's poking fun at cliches in other rom coms then it seems to forget that and throws out some of its own, extra point for the lovely Emma stone. 7/10 The way way back - cracking little film, Sam Rockwell is excellent as always, the young lad is really good as the shy youngster coming out of his shell and props to Steve carrell for playing someone who you really don't like in the film 8/10 The spectacular now - from the writers of 500 days of summer and it shows, not just your bog standard film about young love, goes deeper than that and the film is carried by the 2 excellent leads, simple film but I really enjoyed it 8/
Rodders
I **** love Drive and the soundtrack is fantastic. Just watched Odette. 1950 film on iplayer about french resister lady working for MI5. Not too bad actually as far as old war films go. Her story involved going to Ravensbruck and that had no detail to it annoyingly but I suspect not alot was really known at that point.

PaulC
Didn't like Drive that much! Gosling took about 10 secs to reply to everything which i found very irritating and looked like he was on Valium. Carey Mulligan was wooden which is ashame because i think she has been good in some films. To be honest Gosling was great in the early days with "The Believer", "Lars and the real girl" etc but not in this.
