PaulC
I assume you mean the 2010 Colin Farrell "The Way Back" rather than the 2013 "The Way, Way Back" with Sam Rockwell which is **** dog muck. Rockwell is great in it though even if he mails it in some. Watched Moon again yesterday. My favourite actor at the minute and probably my favourite film of the past 5 years. Yes Moon is good. Just saw Sam Rockwell in a single shot. Really good performance and good film.
Ingram85
Moon is flipping awesome. Stunningly awesome. The Way Back was a lot better than I had thought it would be. A very good film with some great performances all round. Even Farrell.
Ginko
Honestly? I found Moon a little dull. I mean, I know that it's meant to be a bit quiet and lonely and stuff, but yeah. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for it, I dunno.
stewiek2
Just watched American Hustle. A total unashamed homage to Martin Scorsese. But bloody hell it's brilliant, if not quite reaching the Scorsese-sensed pay off that Marty's films do but still it should win big at the oscars. So many great performances, for me Jennifer Lawrence's performance steals the show. Far better a homage than Jar Jar Abram's Spielberg homage. The Desolation of Smaug- Really enjoyed it. Flew by.Gravity - Great film. For me American Hustle is the best of the three.

briggaman
Looking forward to seeing 'American Hustle' on Friday. Although I'm more excited about 'The Wolf of Wall Street' and 'Her' to be honest. All of them look good to me. On another note, have any of you seen 'Short Term 12' yet? It had a limited release in the UK, yet they are rolling it out to more cinemas in January from the looks of things. Anyway, if you haven't seen it then I highly recommend checking it out. legov
Martin Scorsese is the greatest director of all time. Has he ever made a stinker?! Even in his old age now he is still making films better then any of today's directors. His recent works of the departed, Hugo, shutter island and wolf of wall street (haven't seen it but has rave reviews) although not his best is an incredible resume of films. Along with taxi driver, mean streets, after hours, colour of money, goodfellas, casino, raging bull. Genius. shhh don't you know it's a remake, it's so crappy, wholesale copying of the original HK film and therefore utterly dismal.**not my actual opinion It's much better than Infernal Affairs which is in itself a very solid movie. It perfects it to the point that if it wasn't a remake and wasn't carrying the stigma that comes attached to that it would be considered a masterpiece and an all time great IMO. I know, I actually kind of agree with you, loved both films but thought Departed was the better of the two and a classic. It's just that every now and then I hear or read about someone complaining about The Departed because it was a remake, which pisses me off because it's such a great film.
Ginko
If James Lipton says Bradley Cooper can act, then Bradley Cooper can act. I thought he was brilliant in Silver Linings Playbook, as was the entire cast, including Jennifer Lawrence

Bill Forsyth directed a couple of classics in the early 80's Gregory's Girl being the other one.

theboyangel
Watched a couple of popcorn movies over the Xmas period Pain & Gain - not as bad as I expected (especially for a Michael Bay film). The fact it's a true story of 3 bodybuilders turned (inept) kidnappers is hilarious. The Rock to be fair, is pretty decent in it. Riddick - as bad as I expected!!!!! Basically, Pitch Black remade (nowhere near as good), with a little of Chronicles of Riddick thrown in for continuity's sake! It's alright on a wet night, with a curry to eat! Man Of Steel - actually surprised by this - the build up within the film was well done and patient and then the final quarter became a frantic mess. Shame as the majority was really quite good. Spring Breakers - aaaarrgghh..... make it stop!!!!! The End Of The World - brilliant in places, not so good in others. Really love the likes of Spaced, Hot Fuzz and SOTD and this was chugging along nicely in a similar vein. Only real problem was I had no empathy for many of the main characters - especially Simon Pegg's lead - maybe that was the idea?!?! Ending was a bit meh but still some cracking lines and comedic moments.
