TRL
Yep its probably gonna be invisibility. Non-movement, but you stay hidden as long you are out of combat. It will be some sort of shadow-meld, and with your burst dmg and crowd- control, imagine the upper hand you can get in PvP, wether its world or BGs. TRL
Id gladly swap a healing spell against going invisible
limpid Posted December 14, 2006 Administrator Share Posted December 14, 2006 Hmm, so you see invisibility as an equivalent to Backstab? This is actually worse than I thought. My mage is turning into a rogue.
TRL
Nah but seriously Limpid. That spell would ensure you getting the suprise attack on anyone. Unless WoW has changed massively lateley a PvP suprise attack has only one outcome, no matter what class or race.
limpid Posted December 14, 2006 Administrator Share Posted December 14, 2006 but mages didn't need that talent. The mage is a well defined class with a well defined role. If Blizzard want to nerf the whole game into crappy pvp I will be going elsewhere. I don't like pvp!
The_Rev
Invisibility cant be used to gank people with. Its not a PvP spell. It has two uses. 1] To sneak past things you dont want to fight. 2] To reduce aggro you generate when you do a 4k crit on a boss. Mages are fine. I talk to Arcasis a lot who is 41 Arcane at the moment. For ridiculous burst damage he says Mages have never had it better.
TRL
You are kidding? As you cant move while invisible, you cant sneak by anything. You cant avoid getting attacked if you get jammed. But as a PvP spell its brilliant. Always getting the suprise attack, and beeing able to perform crowd control spells without the slightest notice. If you cant use it in combat either, how can you possibly use it as any form for aggro reduction spell?
limpid Posted December 14, 2006 Administrator Share Posted December 14, 2006 Looks like another really poorly planned change. And not needed.

Juju
I sort of agree with Limpid. I am frankly getting bored with the quest lines, as most of them involve to a greater extent, killing mobs. Over and over again. I'd like to see much more class specific quests, so that say, those without healing talent, like mages, could level by questing doing some kind of puzzle or aquisition style quest that took time and effort, so priests could somehow use their non damage skills so its viable to level without needing to do damage, and so on. So that all the classes had their own identity. I too cannot see the attraction of a carefully pre planned pvp event either, it doesnt seem to be what the games initial design was for, especially on a pvp server, where theres lots of gankfest stylee pvp to be had. Somehow formalising it makes it dull, and to be honest, I think I feel like limpid, the game is going further and further away from what I thought the game was about, to some kind of online doom with casting instead of guns. I want adventure, not a shootfest. And last night, say, wandering about the wpl, using my new talent tree mangle, by christ can I now deliver some serious dps for the first time as a druid..... I did over 100k xp in a couple of hours. And given I am such a slow leveller, thats astonishing......
TRL
so priests could somehow use their non damage skills so its viable to level without needing to do damage, and so on Ive suggested this a long time ago, regarding grinding and our problems around that. You can do the combat quest in Silithus! Mind you, with that you will get people like Dan complaining how unfair it is when a healing quest is on the game that DPS cant just do in five seconds. Risso
You can add me to the list of someone who's really pissed off with the game right now. Everybody except shammies and priests seemed to get a new spell or other type of buff. We got a nerf to one of our decent melee abilities, and bugger all else. OK we might be viable in some 70 man raids, and I hope Blizz will have made it so we're actually needed, but the class balance has gone to absolute buggery. Of the three hybrid classes, Paladins had the plate and survivability but low dps. The saying was it took an army to kill a paladin, but an army of paladins to kill anything else. Now they have plate, the stupid bubble, can immobilise you AND do insane DPS. Why didn't Blizz just rename them "God" and have done? Druids out perform us in just about all areas as well. I really hope that TBC is a bit more than "kill 10 wyrmkins, 20 treants and 15 scrotumwarts and return to Blacknob" because I can't see it keeping my interest if it is. TRL
Now you gotta read this! Well we had a "new" shadow priest today (actually he used to be a very dedicated holy priest, but lost all the fun after the patch so he respecced to test shadow) His DPS gear is quite a bit below naxx level, so he used a flask to compensate... anyway his performance was pretty scary. His DPS on Patchwork Clicky! Moreover the priests and Druids in his Group did not need to use any innervates or pots, because Vampiric Touch regen did restore that much mana >_<. On thaddius he was in the MT group and on NR. 1 in effective healing just by using Vampiri Embrace, while still being in the top 10 of DPS. After the raid everyone agreed that with the new talents a shadow priest is basically a must have for every raidgroup. To not get one now would actually be stupid. To be quite honest that made me a bit angry, because compared to that a moonkin just does not come close. Sure they do decent damage now too, and 5% crit and 3% melee hit are nice buffs, but a shadow priest does have a lot more going for him. No one praised our little owl as much as our shadow priest was praised today... the most they said was "well you are better than you used to be" and thats it really. Thats funny

ozvillafan Posted December 15, 2006 VT Supporter Share Posted December 15, 2006 Meh. A lot of stuff is unbalanced at the moment. And, sadly, those who grinded for higher level gear are disadvantaged. Heck, I even spent a few gold and trained up on the spells that I would otherwise need to grind AQ20 for. But it's back to levelling so no different to, say, levels 1-40 where things are a little unbalanced also. Thing is, Bliz is bringing in specialised gear for lvl 70, according to which way you have spec'd. Check out the thottbot beta for item sets - all subject to change, of course. The_Rev
I dont know whether he has a white Ferrari Testarossa mount or not. Or where his mate was. But fair play on the name/guild combo!
ChrisH
I have to say the honor grind is a little boring, getting enough marks for stuff is really simple, I think i have 100 WSG and AB marks in my bank, not as many AV but thats because i hate the place!! Took part in 15 WSG's last night and we won all but one 3-0 and the other we won 3-1, it seems even the premade groups are just /1 LFM groups Considering i did the grinding to Rank 11 in the old system to get a PVP Wolf, the fact i find myself grinding again to get armor is driving me nuts, but there isn't a lot more to do in game until the patch
The_Rev
Ive found im thoroughly enjoying the PvP. I had about six months or so when i didnt really bother with battlegrounds other than to do just enough to stay at Stone Guard so now whupping all comers in a premade or trying to top the damage meters in AV is a bit of a novelty again. While we dont have the gear advantage Naxx guilds have (we are mostly T2) like you ive not found most other premades a problem. I think that a fair few of them are just pickup groups from the same sever too. We see lots of /lfg premade shouts in Orgrimmar too, so it is going on. But i also think a lot of them just look at who they are up against, see 15 names from the same server and half of them have a "lets just lose this quick?" attitude. 11k away from a rank 14 blade. Have the mats to enchant it in the bank. Im sure i can stick it out until ive replaced my Mageblade.
ChrisH
Probably the best BG i have had since the patch was in AB the other night, 15 of my Guildies vs 15 Guildies from an Alliance magtheridon guild. I think we won by 30 points and it even prompted them to contact us on IRC to congratulate us on a good game, left me feeling all warm inside from a Proper BG
