withes_shin Posted Monday at 13:39 Share Posted Monday at 13:39 A true Villa hero and one of my first, along with all the other 81-82 team. I hope the following comment is taken as I mean it to come across: but this is the first time that Gary Shaw has entered the box too early. RIP Gary HEITS
VILLAMARV Posted Monday at 13:42 Share Posted Monday at 13:42 Gutting. I remember being in the Supporters Bar as a kid with my Manc Uncle at Maine Road in about '86 and the locals all raving about Gary Shaw and offerring their genuine symapthy for his injury curtailing the career of a generational talent. Far too early. HEITS
CosmicVillan Posted Monday at 13:51 Share Posted Monday at 13:51 Gutted. Can't believe it RIP Gary. What is it with so many of our players gone before their time.
Popular Post John Posted Monday at 13:53 Popular Post Share Posted Monday at 13:53 Such very sad news. Gone way too soon. Thanks for the memories Gary and for the crucial role that you played in winning us the title and the EC. My thoughts are with his family, with the players that played alongside him, with those of us that were lucky enough to have seen him play and with those fans that didn't, but appreciate that we have lost a legend. HEITS! 17

El Zen Posted Monday at 14:01 Share Posted Monday at 14:01 This is gut wrenching. I was lucky enough to socialise with Gary on a slightly regular basis about decade ago or so, and he was a good friend of some very good friends of mine. I never watched him play, but I was fond of Gary on a personal level. Warm, friendly and a great sense of humour, and always a pleasure to talk to. Just an utter tragedy to see him go so very much too soon.
ChesterDad Posted Monday at 14:03 Share Posted Monday at 14:03 Gary could have become world class, footballer he was such a sweet striker of a football. I tried so hard to replicate him on a Sunday morning. He really is a true Villa legend. HEITS.

romavillan Posted Monday at 14:08 VT Supporter Share Posted Monday at 14:08 Oh ****, was hoping to read he'd started on the road to recovery. So sad, both his career and life cut short by bad luck. He was one of the best in his generation easy. Villa legend but had he not got crocked he'd have been remembered as one of England's most talented players of all time.

HEITS! Was looking for some video of him playing the other day and didn't do very well, anyone know of anything out there? His brace in the European Cup would be phenomenal, but anything really... The Fun Factory Posted Monday at 14:11 Share Posted Monday at 14:11 Very sad news. A true Villa legend even in his short career. Condolences to his family and friends. Gone far too soon, 63 is no age nowadays. "Withe and Shaw went together like bacon and eggs- and together they sizzled". RIP.
Pez1974 Posted Monday at 14:14 Share Posted Monday at 14:14 Simply devastating news. It's a well worn comments, but the old line about 'never meet your heroes', etc - not him. He was amazing. For younger fans - he was nearly a year younger and much better than Lineker before the injury. He won the league and European cup, but by 23 his career was devastated. We should be grateful for what we had, but so very sad for what could have been and what we've now lost. HEITS

Lochheads twin Posted Monday at 14:45 Share Posted Monday at 14:45 Really sad news and only 63, taken far too young A very talented and extremely nice guy who was definitely one of our own. Sadly born at a time when England caps seemed only to be handed out to London players and northern reds! A travesty that he never got a full England cap So many happy memories of seeing him play but especially recalling the rapport he built with Peter Withe. my condolences go out to his family. RIP Gary Shaw. HEITS
John Posted Monday at 14:59 Share Posted Monday at 14:59 Brian Little has said on X "Gave Shawsy my number 8 shirt when I retired...he took it to another level...RIP. xx" A fitting tribute from one Villa legend to another.
