Kane Taylor

I don't know the specific reason he left, but at the time our academy wasn't in great shape by most accounts, it was just before Harrison was appointed as Head of Academy, and started revamping the whole thing, If I remember rightly Harrison himself, and Purslow were quite critical of the state it was in, not the fault of the staff at the time, some of whom I think are still with us, but underfunding from previous owners it would seem, was a time when some players were preferring West Brom over us for their development, so we had little chance against Manchester City, according to reports at the time he also had an offer from Liverpool, and Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United were also interested

Never heard of him, ergo assume it's just another load of PSR type nonsense. Will be flogged in a year or two without having played anything. Meeting some homegrown criteria on the cheap.

Thats the spirit! ;)

This link seems to have gone quiet, hopefully still happening, if so will be interesting to see what the plan is, maybe too good for our U21s, or rather more value in giving that game time to one of the younger players that would benefit more from it, but also maybe not ready for our first team, so a loan seems te most likely outcome, either way will be interesting to see him play and how he's used. Have seen some not happy by twenty-five percent sell on for City, but £750k seems like a bargain

Its good that we're trying to bring the regions best talent back.

Haven't Chelsea got a local lad as well? Dyer?

Chelsea signed Kiano Dyer and Leo Cardoso from West Brom a few years back, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both ended up with us in the coming seasons, similar to how Rogers and Sousa left West Brom to go elsewhere, but still ended up with us eventually, see also Barry. Kiano is Lloyd Dyer's son, who came through our academy, and also played against us whilst at Burton in our Championhip years

Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of Kane Taylor from Manchester City.

The Birmingham-born midfielder returns to Villa having previously been in the Academy, joining City in 2019 where he signed a scholarship.

Since his move to Manchester, he was a regular for the club’s Under-18 and Elite Development squads.

If he doesn't go out on loan today, maybe was brought in to play a bigger part with the first team than was perhaps first thought, with Enzo and Dendoncker looking to be leaving, I think scope for him and Bogarde to come into contention for game time in that midfield area
