Defending set pieces is going to be a lot less scary and attacking set pieces are about to get a lot more exciting. Barkley and Onana add size in midfield and physicality. Iling Junior, Nedeljkovic Barrenechea too. Rogers signed earlier this year as 6 3. JJ back

He's probably moving because he's fed up of watching hoof balls sail over his head toward the front line.
Nigel Posted July 13 VT Supporter Share Posted July 13 Let's see the likes of Newcastle bully us in midfield with this monster!
Popular Post duke313
Midfield option next season: McGinn Tielemans Kamara* Onana Barkley Enzo Assuming Donck is off, even with losing Luiz that looks a lot more balanced than last season.

Block the midfield with Kamara plus Onana and give the freedom to create at Joao Felix (or another similar player). This could have a sense.

The problem we had with Kamara out was the midfield being too weak and having to limit what Luiz could do for us because of it. McGinn/Tielemans combo was weak but with Onana there it gives a bit more freedom and security for someone like Tielemans to sit next to him and do what Luiz did. Not sure how you make Kamara/Onana work without killing a bit of creativity from the midfield but we need depth and who knows how far away Kamara is. Premier league tax and to be fair Everton paid just under £35m for him .
Jas10
Unai can improve the other parts of his game, he’s got so much development and potential in him with being only 22 and having plenty of experience already. But he brings the strength, height, defensive and aerial prowess we have lacked for some time. His technique and passing will only get better under Unai’s coaching and… we may be responsible for improving Belgium’s midfield and establishing their CM partnership. He will allow Tielemans to focus on what he does best too. Edited July 13 by Jas10

Better off the ball, worse on the ball. Be interesting how we intend to play until Kamara comes back.
villan95
Delighted with this, will add some much needed physicality to our midfield, but not only that he's very classy and calm on the ball.

He has potential though and trust Unai to work his magic. In and out of Sean Dyche's Everton team.
mikeyp102
Big strong unit but not the range of Dougies passing, unless we are looking for our wider players (hence signing and linked to so many) to be the creative force in the team. JPAngel Posted July 13 VT Supporter Share Posted July 13 The comparisons between Onana and Dougie are irrelevant. One is a destroyer, the other is a creator - despite occupying similar positions on the pitch. Unless we're changing our setup, Onana is not Dougie's replacement.

I think this is it. The wider players (fullbacks included) and 2nd striker maybe being the attack minded ones but our central areas being stronger than last year where teams ran at our defence a lot once kamara was gone
VillaParkAvenue
Kamara/Onana would be a french speaking double pivot. Hope they’ll get on.
