Not the most talented player, but played an integral part in getting us up, under Sir Graham.....

We had a really bad couple of years from 2016--18 didn't we.

I almost posted in the Sarkic thread about how bizarre it is that we've lost so many ex-players over the past few years, many at such young ages. Didn't post in the end as it felt in bad taste when a young lad had just passed away, but my observation remains the same

Maybe not enough said about the fans

It would probably be surprising as to who knows who here or not "know" but recognise the faces from VP and especially the away games

Yes, we all remember those HEITS who have left us. Family and friends that once stood or sat beside us at Villa Park, Rotterdam, Wembley and at countless away grounds. The majority of the fans pictured below 60 years ago and those that became HEITS before even then. We stood beside many a fellow fan, we did not know every name, but we knew we were all from the same Villa family then and we still know it now.

Arthur Sabin  (1939-58 )

Goalkeeper:- Joined Villa from Youth team in  1956 at the Age of 17.

He only got to play for the  1st  team for Villa in 2 Appearances.

He was an outstanding prospect but during a match against Bromsgrove in January 1957 he gained an injury which was suspected to be a broken neck. 19 Minutes saw him motionless on the pitch. The injury was later diagnosed as Chipped Vertebra and his career continued after a short while.

In April 1957 he appeared in a 5-0 victory for Villa against Sheffield Wednesday his Debut for the 1st team. November 1957 saw his 2nd and final appearance for the team, as just after Christmas of 1957 he fell ill. He was admitted to Hospital in January 1958 and tests showed he had a serious Kidney disease.

Sadly he passed away in March 1958 aged just 19.

Agree.

Here's a fan who would have been familiar with many, always wore a cricket jumper hence the name

I used to drink with Steve in the Witton arms after games, very friendly guy and seen him at many away games including the play off final 2018. Went to his funeral at Aston church and was heartening to hear from others how he impacted their lives, villa through and through
