If the current government of whatever colour of whatever country, are not delivering to the electorates expectations, desires or whatever, then democracy and elections should be the tool to change them.

This is what is going to happen in the UK tomorrow.

And in 10 to 15 years time of Labour in government, the pendulum will no doubt swing once more...

Looking at tomorrow's election, and the analysis of the various parties' plans - the IFS, which is Independent and respected as genuinely a fair arbiter and experts have basically said (I paraphrase) "neither of the main parties are telling you the whole truth, taxes will have to rise to sort out all the stuff that's ****". So, sure, they might be not being totally transparent about what they will do if they win. But when it comes to the IFS looking at Reform's plans (again, paraphrasing) they've said "Nah, total bollex, they're lying to you". SO you've got the main ones having some plans, but not telling us the full costs and benefits and stuff, and you've got Reform lying. You're right, I think, that people no longer believe or trust the main parties, in the main, but a growing number seem to be falling for the complete horseshit espoused by the likes of Farage.

The real difficulty is that the problems and issues that need addressing are complex, interlinked and sort of sitting on a moving boat, sailing in a changing world sea. The big parties aren't fully straight with us, but know that (until the tories went mad) there's a serious job to do and it's going to involve things that people don't like as well as things we do, but Reform are of a different mindset - they're selling snake oil. They're quacks, frauds and opportunistic grifters. People who follow less closely don't pick this up and they just think "sod it, it's been crap for 14 years, what have I got to lose voting for a man (Farage) who says stuff I think"  - but the problem is they don't "think" because they don't follow the intricacies and complexity (and to an extent who can blame them, there's better and more important things on their minds). But it leads to these populists getting attention they don't honestly deserve, and the media who ought to be explaining it in clear terms don't.
