Interesting, as currently i think we only have 4 specialist central midfielders in Onana, Tielemans, Barkley and Barrenechea, so we are going down to 3?

(i dont consider McGinn a CM in Emery;s style tbh).

What is McGinns position considered as?

In an emery style (that we play), i think he's a right midfielder/right inside midfielder or in the no.10 role.

Would be a disastrous move if thats what we got for Luiz

We got money, solved PSR and got Illing Junior and him. He was valued at €8m in the deal. So best you set your expectations accordingly.

There's this lad called Onana we signed. He is who we have got for Luiz.

Feeling, similar situation to KKH or Dobbin

Except neither KKH or Dobbin are being talked about as possible starters for Argentina within the next 2 to 3 years - which is what several well-known and accurate reporters on Serie A have said is the level that Enzo is likely to hit.

Agree with the first bit but my problem is that I think in order for us to push on our midfield needed onana without us selling luiz

We could do with another quality addition in there

We were not allowed to push on due to PSR. We will do well this summer just to keep the level of player we had last season.

Well they are English, so expecting them to get caps for Argentina is a bit unrealistic! 😂

(Sorry couldnt resist!)

Possibly going out on loan.

Really surprised by this if it's true.

He had the learning loan last season and it was very similar to Doug being at Girona in 2018-19 before coming here.

Would be odd for him to go out again as he did play 30 + times in Serie A so not sure what sort of level we feel he can kick on at.

Perhaps he hasn't settled but that will be a problem as we'll need him to start at DM in a month or two.

SJM will be the same as all the others season. Sometimes he'll play out wide, advanced or dropped into the pivot alongside Tielemans/Onana when the situation requires.

Our best performances in the run in were him and Tielemans v Arsenal and Bounemouth.

I don't see it at all if it's just a feeling.

Those two are fringe players quite a way off our first team, Enzo isn't.

I could be completely wrong on this, but I feel he won't get many minutes at DM with Onana clearly owning the position. Mcginn is well capable of covering Onana at DM (as he was often used last season) until Kamara comes back. Also there is still Dendonker hanging around like a bad smell nobody wants. Add to this his absence today made me think he could be loaned out.

There's definitely lineage from the bands you mention, chiefly the likes of Rites of Spring and Embrace (not that one). If you're down the Villa this season, look out for me doing my best Enzo impression:

Or maybe it will be @Keyblade

Close to my preferred style honestly. But add a black baseball cap, subtract the sleaves and substitute the pg99 tshirt with a Deftones one.

Onana can get injured though, he misses games for Everton last season with knocks. I think we'll see Enzo with 15-20 minute sub cameos then a start in league cup and then eventually starting for us in October-November as the games will be coming thick and fast by then and they'll be high intensity ones every 3-4 days. Just look at the potential schedule and quality of opposition we face in November alone.

I can't see any way Dendoncker plays ahead of him, infact think Leo will leave on loan again on August 31st. He'd be a good signing for one of the promoted teams.

We'll be competing on 3-4 fronts for the first half of the season. He's absolutely going to get minutes.
