Unreal talent.

Need to stop this sentimentality crap with Digne and start to play this guy.

Maatsen is clearly the better player. That pace is just golden in the prem. His passing is also crisp as hell

Digne has been playing well too and it's easier to impress coming on against tired legs. Maatsen has been very good, no doubt, but all things in good time.

Digne has been fine

Maatsen looks unreal. We can't keep benching him after watching these cameos.

This is a guy named in the cl team of the year and played in a cl final, let's not forget.

Duran, Maatsen and Barkley have all looked really good coming on as subs so far and their impact has won games for us. I get the idea that they may have earned a start as a result, but maybe this is the plan? Maximum impact subs.

Have either of them got even a semblence of a right foot? Would be great to get one of them into right back for a few weeks to get Konsa back in the centre

As a manager you have to play the percentages, who can forgive you repeating a formula that is working. There is no rush to start Maatsen when Digne is performing so solidly and Maatsen is impressing when he is given time. It’s a long season, there will be a pivot point when Maatsen starts and has to perform to maintain that privilege. It’s working, look at Bailey and Tielemans last season.

I've been wanting him to start because I think he'll offer us so much, a bit of genuine pace for one.

Digne hasn't put a foot wrong for ages though so it was a tough one. Do hope this is a bit of a break through for Maatsen.

Haven't had as many subs able to bring on that can influence in years like we do now. Maatsen, Barkley and Duran all have in just a few games this season. Great to see and makes every starting player sweat.

Emery wanted to add width and one on one take ons which is why Bailey and Maatsen came on at the same time

We have the players to change games.

It's such an amazing feeling to see players warming up and to think that they not so much <could> but more <<will>> have an impact on the match.  Also good to see that we can play with two strikers on the pitch at the same time and not have them falling over each other or grumping about not being the main man.  So many more options at the moment.

Rightfully had to bide his time, but when he comes in he makes an impression, will be starting soon. He’s so rapid that even after a mistake (he tried to knock a ball that wasn’t his to get), he sprinted back and put the attacker under pressure.
