Well no Matty Cash killed him at one stage and got death threats so he was injured for a bit.

But when fit he is one of the key players

Hah. Oh right. Shows how much I paid attention to Spurs then! So Juve fans wanted him gone and were saying he was rubbish?

Was he? For all of last season?

He's better than Bissouma imo.

Cash having a nibble in November meant he was out for two months or so but generally their results are better with him starting.

But he played very little the season before? Seemed to all be about Kulusevski…

Yes and he cost Spurs only 20m. Absolute bargain. Bentancur is there best midfielder don't even think it's a debate for Spurs fans.

Italian football is different to Premier League, some players better suited to the different Leagues. You need to be athletic and physical in the PL

Think Bentacur " absence " was more down to injury

He did his ACL at Leicester in the Feb just before Conte blew up and they had the poor end to the season. Was on 31 games and 6 goals at that point.

I think we actually targeted him in the Jan 2022 window to replace Luiz so that didn't happen and we effectively got two more years out of Doug.

When we sold Philogene he wasn't as highly rated then as he is now after his good season with Hull, and he wasn't as highly rated as Iling Jr is now or has been for a number of years. Signing Iling Jr is basically the equivalent of signng a Chukwuemeka or Bynoe-Gittens level player, thinking in terms of players his age in the England set-up.

Remember Iling Jr is getting a move to a Championship league club at the same age Philogene was getting a move to a Championship club, he was also playing in Serie A, Champions League, and Europa League, whilst Philogene was on loan at Cardiff

How would this signing work from a homegrown standpoint? Would we be able to count him as a homegrown player since he was at the Chelsea academy?

Home grown but not club trained. Doesn't really help us.  We need players that have been with us for 3 years before they turn 21 to be able to expand the European squad size. We already have plenty of home grown to cap out that limit.
