Money well spent

If he can play regularly via a successful loan somewhere, he can either come back and fight for a place in our squad, or can be sold at a higher value. He's only 20, so it's not uncommon for may players at his age to be out on loan.

It's interesting he played for Juventus last season yet may get loaned out.

A depth player may be leaving, and we missed out on Felix. So to my mind still need to fill that Felix role, and not possibly another squad place.

This makes perfect sense as he's still very young and plays in position we're blessed to have a lot of competition in. He's never played consistently in a top flight in one position (also never played PL football) so getting more game time for a Southampton, Leicester, Palace type team where he features prominently would be hugely beneficial for his long term development.

He can't go from Juve to the Championship, that's too big a drop and there's teams in the Prem crying out for attacking enforcements.

If he's available for loan most clubs in the Championship would want him, and him going on loan, if that' what happens doesn't make him a bad signing, Rogers and Philogene were still in the Championship learning at the same age.

Only problem is would leave us kind of short in attack, we're an injury away to one of the attackers, which will probably come at some point, to needing him, a couple of injuries and we would really need him, unless the club think one of Jimoh, Young, or maybe Khedr can cover any such injury, or unless we're bringing in another attacker

A loan to Championship might wake up a few to how good he actually is, would expect him to be at least as good as the likes of Philogene, Ramsey, and Rogers were at that level, he's not allowed this transfer window, but if he was would get a Premier League loan

Thanks, in which case a top end Championship club for 6 months will allow him to tear it up and get his confidence as he definitely seemed to be playing within himself in pre-season. This may be one of those where we forego a loan fee to be able to get a recall clause included.

Leeds are deperate for a winger, have missed out on Rak-Sakyi, looks like they're gonna miss out on Jon Rowe, and now being linked to Cozier-Duberry, wouldn't be surprised if they showed interest in Iling

Silly question but how come? What's the difference between that and us signing Barkley on loan from Chelsea that time?

Rules. Chelsea did not sign Barkley the same summer we signed him on loan. Illing can go on loan to a pl club in january.

Said during the pre match discussion on Saturday he’d likely go out on loan.

Just proves that Juventus pulled our pants down with the Luiz deal given the two players in the swap can’t even make the bench.

I don't think you can say that, given that the entire deal was structured in a way for us to pass PSR. You can bet that the 2 players we bought in will eventually help us pass PSR in the future. That's modern football

It got us round PSR but I’d have preferred £60m up front so we could buy the replacement we wanted instead of the deal we got which involved 2 players that it seems were pushed on to us by Juventus given they are far down the pecking order here if they aren’t making matchday squads and we’re looking to loan them out.

Anyway I’ll say no more as I don’t want to get into a debate about this yet again.

Tbf, our bench was outstanding Saturday. Bar the goalkeeper, all the players on the bench could easily be starting the game.

Getting a spot on our bench is competitive.

This is the result of depth. Everyone calm down.

Emery is quite honest with players and respects their wishes to play consistently. He wouldn't go on loan if everyone didn't agree it would be best for AVFC.
