This isn't even a brilliant Spanish team lol.

Loads of fodder from the likes of the mighty Real Sociedad, Atheltico Bilbao, Real Betis and Al Nassr lol.

They're just coached well and play progressive football.

Man for man we have better options (bar Rodri) and we play conservative football and aren't coached well.

Real Sociedad made last 16 of CL this season and have been consistent top 6 challengers last 3-4 years. Bilbao also had top 6 season and won the cup.

Bit like dismissing Ollie and Konsa because they haven't played in the CL yet. Or the four Palace players in the squad.

Laporte was a top prem CB for many years before he took the Saudi payday.

Spain will be very scary again if a top CF emerges in next year or two. For all their World class midfield between 2008-12 they still need Villa and Torres to finish off chances and Morata is an obvious downgrade.

He should have done the decent thing and declared himself injured tbfh because he clearly, absolutely couldn't even sprint or jump today.

100%.

wanted to see if he could get a moment of glory fall to his feet. if he was any sort of captain he'd have pulled out of the tournament

Well, we shouldn't be relying on him to be a playmaker IMO. Based on saves, I thought he was ok.

Literally no team in any kind of quality football has their keeper constantly punt the ball long.

He's alright as a shot stopper and no-one is asking him to be a playmaker, just give it to feet to someone who can get us going forwards and keep the ball.

Says it all really, when Southgate couldn't even play the keeper to his strengths.

Time and time again. Like a blue arse fly. Channelling his inner Dave Beasent.

Is it me or is Declan Rice insanely limited? Showed up big time VS that Spain midfield.

He's not the £100 million player the media hype him up as, but he was left to practically do it all on his tonight. Mainoo had a shocker, was physically bullied by the Spanish and when he did get the ball spent 10 seconds too late deciding what to do with it and was positionally all over the shop.

Exactly. I thought we were long past that kind of football.

Simon did it a few times during the match. Difference was one of the midfielders immediately realised the area he was going to put it into (the centre circle) and got into position to pick up the ball (under little pressure).

Pickford's kicks were just hit and hope that Bellingham or Toney in his brief moments would just flick something on. A very 90s/2000s style of play that English Football just can't seem to rid itself of.

Spain won the cup without Pedri btw. The future is very bright - still got the likes of Veiga, Pablo Torre, Fermin Lopez and one of the best bright names in the U21s, Assane Diao. That's just the attacking and midfield options.

Again , apart from Palmer, who liveed up to the hype?

Yeah you look at how both teams got here England go away with Watkins goal (stretch) and Palmer should have played more, Saka was ok times

Spain go away with 16 year yamal is the best kid in the world and olmo plays for any team he wants

Rice does a solid job in club football where it's more box to box but yeah when he's pressed he just hasn't got the nimbleness in his balance to dribble away with the ball and just boots it away under pressure. I do think Mainoo has so this will be the annual conundrum, got for physical athlete as DM or someone smaller but more technically proficient.

Even with his decent season for Arsenal no one with a sane mind thinks he's anywhere near Rodri's level.

Some UK pundits/morons called him the bargain of the season

He was massively exposed in Champions League when Goretzka dominated him and he is not welcome at Bayern

I think that's harsh

Olmo, yamal and Williams are probably the best footballers in the tournament, they're a level above every other team and deserve this 100%

Classic team, best of all time definitely not but head and shoulders above everyone else

Baena not really used much in this tournament either.

The two quick wide lads has been the gamechanger though. They'd have probably got out in last 16/Quarters if they'd had Ferran Torres/Oryazabal as wide options with Morata.
