The vibe I've always gotten from the Prem & VAR is the referees were never on board with the system from the get go. Instead of embracing the technology and using it to better themselves and the quality of their decisions, they've seen it as a personal criticism of their ability to call games correctly and fairly. The Prem's refereeing team have done everything in their power to stand in the way of VAR and intentionally muddy the waters with inconsistent decisions a lack of consequences for continued bad calls. I've said for years that if the Premier League wants to be the biggest, best, and most profitable league in the world and draws the best players from all over the globe, why are they not doing the same with referees?
