Growing up they were the masters of going up 1-0 and sticking 10 men behind the ball. They were excellent at the dark arts of football too, and had some ridiculously talented forwards. Now football rules favour attackers Italy haven't adapted. It's so hard to be defensively minded and be successful. I loved watching Italian football in the 90s, it was such a better standard than English football. Nearly every player was technically gifted.
