Surely someone has to qualify out of all those teams don’t they? Otherwise why are they playing qualifying matches if no slots are open to them to qualify into? How many slots out of the 36 places in the mega-league are open to teams coming through qualifying? 52 teams enter in total, the Champions League qualifying rounds, with just 7 spots open to get a place in the League phase. 5 through the Champions Path and 2 through the League path. As said above, it will be 3 qualifying rounds and then a play-off round. Teams such as Galatasaray and Red Star Belgrade enter at the play-off stage in the Champions path. Other sides like Lille and Rangers will also feature in the third qualifying round onwards in the League path. There are 29 teams already guaranteed to be in the league phase including ourselves.
