Why not move it to off topic/travel to make it proper random. Discussing Villa in the CL shouldn’t take place in other football.

Yeah - I was just looking for the thread to post my thoughts on us advancing to the knockout phase.

I think we'll see a couple of changes for the weekend.

Interesting to see 2 games with half time changes. I think Unai manages them so well that this isn't seen as being a punishment but properly tactical and I hope that shows a true squad mentality rather than first team and backups.

I do think there will be a development in football over time where players almost become specialised to phases of the game. So 'starting' doesn't mean you're the most important necessary but you're most effective in minutes 1-40 and backed up by reams of data etc. Of course some will be effective all game. Others in from 70-95 like subs now etc

A huge derby game coming up this weekend. We’re usually bad against them. However, last season we had a really good game at home (the away one was tough). I think we can do some changes for the home game. Such as starting Ned. We could start Maatsen as well. I’d say we rest Ramsey, but if Maatsen is starting then Ramsey is the one to start. Jaden has to feature as well. I’d keep Bailey and Watkins resting (then we see how things goes during the game). I’m not sure if Buendia is ready to start but we’ll soon need to rotate Rogers as well. We can’t rotate al of those but we have to change 2-3 atleast.

There is no need to rest Watkins (unless the knock he picked up is serious) as he will be rested v Wycombe.

I dont think we'll rest players for Wolves. This is only our 6th game in 6 weeks. And most of them won't play for another week after Saturday.

Duran has to start soon, start him home better than the away one. Against Wolves it will be a bit like Everton. Ugly and they will depend on counter attacking.

Next week we’ll have another two games midweek against Bayern. Even if we rest them at Wycombe it’s still 5 games in 17-18 days. I don’t think it would be right to do that. Especially as we have a reasonable schedule.

We’ll have to, for several reasons. Even for the tactical approach itself. We have to try as much players as we can, so we’re not forced to a situation we don’t want to be at. We’ll have to start Jaden, Ned, Barkley, Buendia..etc

That being done while rotating is better than being forced. Bogarde didn’t have any minutes yet found himself starting 3 on row.

If we can rotate and win our next 3 games before Bayern while saving Bailey, Watkins…etc for that game then we’ll have a nice chance. I’m not saying not playing Watkins. But starting Duran next two, then possibly starting Watkins at Ipswich. While Bailey featuring last couple of minutes here or there. Rogers don’t need to be overspent as well.

The only player there that has a chance of starting v Wolves is Barkley.

I guess Ned has a chance if Cash isn't fit and we don't want to play Bogarde.

Possibly, depends if Emery wants to persist with Bogarde at RB.  They do like to attack down the left wirh Ait-Nouri, so might be something Emery wants to change.

Good win tonight, and it’s important we got three points. But the real test will be this weekend, can we play CL and not drop points on Saturday.

Helps it was Tuesday and Wycombe we'll play the kids hopefully.

I’m not saying all should start, but we should start changing each week depending on what’s coming. We also need to give Jaden for example 30mins especially if we’re winning.
I know there is Wycombe, but it still good for their confidence as well to feature.
