£20m is probably the going rate these days for a player of Skipp's profile, still young, over one hundred appearances for Spurs, including seventy-seven in the league and six in the Champions League, not great but a steady enough Premier League performer. But strange that Leicester are buying him when they already have Winks who is a similar player and they have other midfielders and also limited budget, if they needed one more would have thought they would have just gone for a loan, or cheaper option, as back-up to Winks and Ndidi

Milan bought fofana for less yesterday

There's too much emphasis put on English football and knowing what its all about, less risks being taken, players being bought with lower ceilings but at least the clubs know what their floor is

Edit - you can say the same with us and onana, we've paid a lot of money for a know ln PL entity rather than taken the risk of someone abroad for cheaper

Very telling if he is, none of the big boys rated him as worth a punt.

Likely the asking price turned them off. Toney is a great striker but with teams being more careful due to financial restraints, few clubs can afford to pay the £100 million plus Brentford want for him.

A move to Saudi is the most sensible move for player and club. Brentford get good money for him and Toney can all but semi retire and bet to his hearts content. 😄

Yes but Fofana wouldn't have gone to Leicester.

Goretzka being pushed out of Bayern, though he's putting up a fight.

Feel like he almost *has* to go to Liverpool with their lack of depth and quality at DM. He can play a few positions and he's decent enough

Surprised by Toney to Saudi. He's got 1 Year left on his contract, yeah the big boys may not want him now for a huge fee, but another year of 12-15 goals for Brentford, he'd get his move to a top club and big wages to go with it.

Saudi will pay him immensely but it'll jeopardise his England and top level career.

For some players that's the right choice, fair, but I'm a bit disappointed Toney has done that, felt he had more about him

Sounds like his head's gone, fell out with tuchel and was dropped last season, didn't make the Germany squad, now can't make amends with company

He'll go somewhere with a lot of fanfare, especially if it's Liverpool, it'll be steal of the century world class type stuff but in reality he's currently a huge risk

Can only guess that either the interest he was expecting simply wasn't there (was the arsenal rumour guff?) or Brentford are saying no PL clubs

Not sure why he wouldn't just ride this year out and join whoever he wanted for free next summer though

They pay him too much and doubt Liverpool be paying that. Apparently has an attitude problem and was why he was dropped from German squad for the Euros as felt be a bad influence

He's playing catch up when it comes to earnings. He's only on PL wages a few years. Saudi will boost the bank balance nicely.

Toney attitude stinks and his form fell off a cliff after his ban. Maybe teams have seen through him

Southgate would still have picked him if still in charge

A balance booster you say? What are the odds on that?

I think it's a combination of the interest not materialising, plus his value to Brentford being disconnected from what other clubs would have paid for him, plus the emergence of Solanke last season who got the 'mid-ranking to big 6 striker transfer' move. The ban cast doubt on Toney's character and reliability, and then he looked pretty average in the back half of the season. He's also 28 so the clock is ticking.

Saudi club apparently offering him 20 million a year but the transfer fee is 30 million

Brentford will soon realise the £60m they are after is pure fantasy. Him being good at taking penalties won't double his value. Might be a good move for him, I doubt there's a Ladbrokes/Power's/Hill's etc on every street in Riyadh.
