Posted July 28 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted July 28 That should do us good - it'll put a little humility on our pre-season, help us remember that we're going to have to work very hard for everything we get and remind us that we're not there yet. Some decent individual performances, with lots of the new boys looking bright and some things to work on in terms of the way we defend in particular. The big takeaway for me from tonight though is that we still have a lot of work to do in the transfer market - we've got huge amounts of players in some positions and we're pretty threadbare on a couple of key areas - we're light at CB and we need one and maybe two more to play there, and, without Duran, we don't have anyone capable of leading the line and occupying defences up front when Watkins isn't available. We've got enough left backs that we can loan one to help out at centreback and enough attacking midfielders that we can lend one or two to play up front - but that isn't any substitute for proper specialists in those positions. We'll need two or three players to give us the depth we need and we can maybe afford to move out a few too - I like the opportunities we've taken in the market so far this summer, but you can certainly argue that we haven't yet addressed our weaknesses.
