Yep seems a good idea (not that I get a bus). Think for some it will be really beneficial

Especially for those who regularly buy a pass for commuting to work and/or socialising. It's free for the month!

I know its slightly OT but I buy 2 tickets per match, and last season each ticket appeared on the Villa app, mine on mine and my lads on his. You could then add to wallet from there.

They also sent tickets via pdf attachments that you could also add to your wallet from there instead. I always added both to my wallet from the pdf version on email.

So far, no Arsenal tickets have appeared on the app and not received any pdf versions either. There is now just a wallet icon within the email that you click on to add to wallet.

I don't see why season tickets, or multiples thereof, would be any different.

No-one else can add something to the wallet other than the owner of the device. That's the key to the security / privacy. As you say, Villa can assign them to a fan id and therefore to someone's Villa app. It can be added to the wallet from there, or from a link in an email or on the OS.

I was going leave a laugh reaction to your post but I can definitely see facial recognition being utilised in the not too distant future.

Its part funny but part serious. In your post you say how heavy carrying a wallet is with all those cards, cash etc.  Which it kind of is. And now we carry a phone which has all that we need. But presumably the phone is a burden too isn't it, if the wallet is? The next stage is that you are the technology, or have the technology around you or within you.

Surely attending the game is the real burden. We could all be at home absorbing the game from angles/points of views far superior than being in the stands. Probably dont need a TV by that point. Seeing every goal from the players perspectives.

It's interesting times for sure, which presumably we can't undo at any point.

Sad personal thing from my perspective is I think this'll be the first season that my son won't go to a few games with my nan when I can't attend. I could possibly set her up with it but she struggles with the technology and then you'll have the complication that my son needing to be set up on my phone as he doesn't have his own phone.

Theres far less freedom moving forward, which I guess the club wants.

Of course, as you allude to towards the end of your post, the move is nothing to do with the old way being a burden, or the club thinking about our convenience.

Digital tickets have come in to stop us lending a mate a ticket. People are much less likely to lend someone their phone for the afternoon or login to the account on someone else's phone, but if it starts happening on a non trivial scale, you bet they'll start looking at facial recognition

Had an email tonight offering a free 4 week bus pass for ST holders

I've been sent this offer too but my two daughters and my brother who are also season ticket holders haven't. I assume it is only randomly going out to some ST holders then.

Oh no absolutely, they make way more money out of me if i cant attend the game as a season ticket holder or physically pass it to someone who can. As they resell the seats at much higher price. Its a weird set up.

Are your daughters under 16? Think it said it was for over 16s only. Not sure on why your brother hasn’t had it.

No they are 18 and 26. The 18 year old would have actually used it.

Maybe just forward the email to her and see if it allows her to apply. As lead purchaser, I always get the email and my friend doesn’t, even when it’s meant for him.

Or the one time that the away fans don't sell out (Fulham) the club don't put the said season ticket holder vacant seat as they decide to flog the upper witton section instead?

They make you feel like some sort of drug smuggler if you don't sell on your ticket officially, even at games they don't list it for sale.

Had an email confirmation just after 5 o’clock yesterday stating that my application for a season ticket card was successful & will be posted to me for free. Which was nice. For the 800 and odd pounds its costs the very least they can do is let me in, but having to ask to do so is not very nice. So that’s the first hurdle cleared. No idea what I’ll have to do for cup games, hopefully the club will load them onto the card but we’ll have to wait and see.

Not had an email regarding free bus travel, which is a shame as I would use it.

The link from the email is below, it asks you to register with West Midlands transport and then they will confirm if you are eligible.

Did you have to give a reason as to why you wanted one?

I simply told the truth; I don’t have a smartphone. That’s all I put on the form.

From the clubs point of view, my claim can be backed-up, I my contact number is a 0121 landline number, I’ve always phoned the ticket office on a 0121 number. Plus I’ve never signed up to any fancy-dan things like the Villa App or Villa TV, no idea (or care) about claiming my rewards points. My cup tickets last season were emailed to me and I printed them off to use at the turnstiles.

Well it's more or less 7 days to go for the first home game now, the gates will be open and I still have no ST digital ticket email, wallet thingy....

Think I need to call the ticket office Monday and find out what is going on. I have to drive 100 miles to VP, will be very annoyed if I have to join a queue of thousands of other ST holders to try and get in before the game starts.

Suspect it's going to be busy next week at the ticket office.

I really cannot understand why villa have not got this done and sorted a couple of weeks ago.
