MrBlack
2 hours ago, OutByEaster? said: From the development thread: That's interesting to note, thank you - those are the 'entry level' season tickets to Villa Park for what might end up being the next decade and looking at sales, I guess the plan works. The demand for ST's is now such that there are people on that list that will pay a lot more. The natural way forward for the club is to let the GA season ticket holding decline naturally and attempt where possible to resell the space at prices that reflect demand. It's a sad truth of the success of the modern game that even as recently as a decade or so ago, the regular season ticket holder was seen as the lifeblood of clubs; loyal, dependable, and a reliable source of important income. Nowadays, those ticket holders are almost a burden; the people paying least to watch the game and very often taking up some of the best seats. It's a dramatic change and one that the people in charge of clubs have seen earlier and much more clearly than season ticket holders. It's simple logic for a club - more people paying £2,500 and less people paying £800 a season is just basic maths in terms of increasing income. That's the price of success and the deal we make if we want to win. Unintended consequences of FFP/PSR in its current guise. The sooner they unlink the profit to the spend the better. As for the demand for the new ga+, there's defintely enough people desperate to go that will pay a premium in a year when we have Emery at the helm and success a likely outcome. Not least those who've given up ever getting to the top of the normal waiting list. Will it stay that way?

Probably - there was a season ticket waiting list even when the genius that is Stevie G was manager.

Even if 50% wouldn't take a season ticket when offered that's 20,000 waiting. If 75% of those can't afford to queue jump to The Cells, that's still 5,000 wanting to pay to go into The Cells. If half of those are fair-weather fans and will disappear when the team does badly, that still leaves 2,500 people staying in The Cells long term. I meant more along the lines of if our success isn't sustained... but yes, if it is then I'm sure that not only will it stay that way, but it will likely only get worse. Unless they change the rules. Popular Post cauley81
**Apologies. Its a bit of a rant if you can be bothered )** My first proper season was 92/93, 10 yrs old, and my dad and uncle taking me to the last 6/7 or so home games, standing in the holte, in the ill fated title run in with Utd. I then had a ST from 01/02 to 09/10. Until basically once i got married and 'life' got in the way. After promotion i was in a position to get a ST again, but had to join the list. I've been waiting since. Last update April 23, i was low 500s, so near the front. I've had a membership which has worked, but now with a family, 2 young girls who want to come, getting seats together is a bit of a mare for the 4 of us. I understand that. I also understand them realigning the seats this off season has given Villa the opportunity to fill the odd single seats that remain, thus freeing bigger blocks for families/groups. Space is limited so i get that trying to get seats together is tough luck. But by paying membership, then full match ticket price for pretty much every home game (for me), its a considerable amount. Like OBE says, i think traditional STs are dead, The clubs know it. Much more money to be had on singles or GA+. Today announced sold out, I didnt take up GA+ ST in the new lowest price Cells, as i know it takes you off the normal ST list, and i also read in the T&Cs you cant relocate, so i dont want to be stuck in R2 forever and a day. I also dont know how much more its going to cost next year. I'm sure i read Terrace View is knocking on about £500 extra or something this year vs last. I cant afford that year on year. Not many will. There needs to be an equilibrium at some point. Realistically, I could afford the Cells this year but if i cant next year and cant renew the GA+, but then i'm also off the normal waiting list, i'm screwed. I had a real dilemma these last few days whether to get a Cells ST and jump the queue, which i dont think the club should be putting any supporter in. I've probably paid more than ST holders this last season to try and get a ticket for every game i can (membership cost + full ticket price each game), and i still missed a few. STH are held in some sort of esteem which used to be the case, but i believe is wrong at this point in the clubs history. Loyalty is everything. Dont get me wrong. I appreciate those long standing committed STH who've had a ST for 20,30,40+ Years. BUT we are all villa through and through. Theres no 'i'm a bigger fan than you as i can afford to and have the time to go to every game thats available'. Absolutely fair play to those that can. Back in the early 00's i went to loads of away games, counting fratton park, the valley, filbert street, st andrews etc. You could get away tickets easy even just then, though i guess it was 20 years ago thinking about it. Sorry for rambling on, but my point is there needs to be a better understanding amongst the fan base of the way football, and the financials is going. We NEED to be in the top echelons of the league to not only compete, but to attract that lucrative global/tourist £. As much as it pains me to say. The club/ownership also need to understand, though its an opportunity for them now and how utterly fantastic they've been, they wont be around forever and are still just custodians of this great club. They need price points for ALL fans. The extra 2-3 mill garned in upping the prices, is nothing in the grand scheme of things of the current climate of player wages etc. Though i've nothing against the players demands, thats the market forces and what we live with, but squeezing the match day fan upfront per season is losing its touch. Improving concourse areas, bars, food opportunities, even mini concourse club shops like they do in the lower trinity. Improve all that and the match day going fan will arrive earlier, spend more, possibly stay after to let the traffic die down. Added to that also the commercial dept doing their job and getting decent sponsor deals. Plenty of opportunities for the club to improve revenue streams without impacting that week in week out match day fan (oh and toilets without having to wade through piss laden floors to get to the urinal to add to it Whilst I patiently wait on the list, I'll be getting another membership this season, and sitting wherever i can get a seat. So just a note for those 'few and far between' STH that sneer at people in the odd seats. Some of us are there as we have no choice. Just as loyal and dedicated as you. I hope i've made the right choice in not opting for a Cell seat this year. We all want the club to succeed on and off the pitch UTV
WHY
Apologies if it’s already been asked but does anyone know where I can apply for a season card on the website. I’ve renewed and want to request a card. On the email about my renewal there was a link but just takes you to the website.
