There’s no way we need Phillips right now.

1. We already have Kamara, Onana and Enzo to play in the defensive pivot.

2. IF we sign Torres, the only available starting position for McGinn becomes the Luiz type role. (Assuming Watkins, Bailey, Rogers and Torres are the preferred starters). Leaving Tielemans and Barkley as bench options.

3. we have more pressing defensive positions to strengthen

What if we signed him for a half season loan? Fill that Kamara gap until he’s back plus Enzo’s an unknown commodity right now.

Did you see him at West Ham?

Doubt we're  loaning Phillips but if we did it needs to be asap. Needs as much time with Unai and the squad as possible before season starts to get up to speed. There's a good player in there somewhere. He just hasn't been seen for so long you do wonder if he will ever return.

I get you can sound out a player/agent on a move before bidding but I never quite get how you can give a player a "concrete offer" without talking to the club first. As surely that would be tampering?

It's one of those bits of BS transfer jargon that get touted every window. Bit like when Darmesh **** for brains on Sky says his "personal terms aren't thought to be an issue" for when a Prem team brings a player from abroad who's currently on 2k a week. Like no **** they'll give him 1000x his salary so of course they'll say yes

Beier and Felix to replace Duran and Diaby would be excellent business.

Chelsea can go after Vitor Roque.

I may be alone in this but I'm going to keep beating the Roque drum. If he goes to a club who patiently develops him properly (like Unai wanted to do with Duran), the kid will be a superstar. Monchi please make it happen!

Surprised in the lack of links in defensive signings.

Only four senior CB's and Mings still hasn't played a minute of preseason leaving Konsa, Diego and Pau.

The area we definitely the weakest ATM.

Wonder if we're waiting on getting a few more out the door before doing any more business because our squad at the moment is ridiculously big. 30+ players without including any of the academy prospects like Bogarde etc.

Surely the likes of Olsen, Hause, Dendoncker, either Moreno/Digne, and obviously Duran will be moved on sharpish?

Then the likes of Dobbin, Nedeljkovic you would have thought will be sent out on loan.

Agree with the main thrust of what you’re saying, but have a feeling that Ned will be in the first team set up with KKH heading for the exit (on loan or permanently)

Can see that, but I think KKH may be kept as back up as it will help with the UCL home grown rules.

Olsen is going nowhere.

There seem to be a lot of people who don't like him and are full of wishful thinking.

It's not happening.

No links, no mentions, no replacement, no talk of it; he's our number two keeper and will be for the coming season.

I'd have thought one of Olsen or Gauci would be elsewhere this season, albeit Gauci would be a loan. Mainly because we could then register Zych who would count towards our homegrown quota.
