that’s our CL squad. With Dendonker, Hause, Chambers, Moreno (or Digne), Dobbin, Kosta and one of the goalies being unregistered to play.

So, where are we weak? And who are we dropping/selling to make room?

The obvious answer is we’re weak at DM. With Kamara out for another 6 months and a very unproven Barrenechea as the only specialized replacement.

In order:

CM, RB, CF, GK (depending on Gauci/Sinisalo level), CB, RM.

Despite that, looking at that, McGinn is going to be up against it to keep his place. He's at his best with a fire up his mountainous arse, so I'm looking forward to it.

I think Ned will end up playing a lot of games this season, so he could be the RB already.

So, who you’re selling?

im assuming it’s Cash, Olsen, Mcginn and Duran out for a CF, GK, RM, RB (like for like)

and loans to cover Kamara/Mings?

So you want to buy a DM? Who are you selling to get them in? Or do you favour a 6 month loan?

Loan would be great but difficult If you want a quality player. I’d sell Duran to begin with, and ideally buy someone who is specialized as a 6 but can also play as an 8. Barrenechea may turn out great but seems like a wildcard to me.

I think we need some next level quality to enhance this squad and yes it will then mean a couple might have to go.  If we want another CL league place, be respectable in the CL and competitive in the domestic cups then while the above shows we have the numbers I think it’s next level quality is required.  Who that is and what positions will depend on whose available. I don’t think the above has sufficient quality for the season I just talked about.

I imagine if we're getting a Kamara replacement that will come after Dendonker is sold and / or Emery decides Enzo isn't ready. If we have a good pre-season and Enzo looks like he can produce Rogers levels of improvement in a short space of time, I would rather risk one of our own for a few months, giving him playing time rather than a Zaniolo situation where they may or may not be good, cost a lot, and talk about where theyll be next season from December onwards.

This is where I’m at. if we can’t get a good loan, it’s Duran out for a midfielder. Archer is going to need to step up though.

I’ve seen a few games with Barrenechea playing. He’s decent Seria A quality .. I’m not as worried

but having a proper CL quality CM would be ideal

as of other players

Cash, Olsen, Diaby, Buendia and Carlos, and their positions could be upgraded upon.

everyone else is unsellable or too new

I also want to post my usual complaint about us not having a more solid nr 2 in goal. Olsen isn’t as awful as some make out but the drop-off from Emi is enormous. Other clubs have better backup keepers. And Emi tends to miss games now and then.

I think most here can agree with that.

but where are you fixing and who are the make ways?

We have something like 25-30 games to play until the new year. Can't afford to have important players in poor form without having a almost like for like replacement if we aim to keep up with the league and not get knocked out of the CL.

We won't be signing a Kamara replacement, we only needed a rotational option for him, which we now have with Enzo Barrenechea, who has just had a full season in Serie A and Juventus wanted to keep as their back-up No.6. We've been linked to midfielders in the style of Gallagher, Onana, and McKennie, so it's possible we will bring in one of that type and they can help add some 'steel' to the midfield in addition to Barrenechea, another possibility is us buying a defender that can also operate as a DM, but I don't think we're going to be buying another specialist DM

Kosta must be one of our most experienced Champions League players

Who would you sell to make room for your “steal”

That’s what I can’t answer because it all depends on who’s available to buy.  Let’s say we could get Olmo then who Emery thinks he’s replacing would be sub or sold.  If Merino came in the the same.  If Nico Williams…

You see where I’m going…it all depends who is available and we can get to come to us.  All the players I could mention are different positions and almost all of them won’t come to us but if one does then we’d have to make a decision on the players in those position.

To me only Martinez and Ollie are unsellable.  There are obviously others that can’t be sold but if the right player is available and the right deal then most positions are up for grabs.

Its not about fixing things, it’s about continuous improvement of the squad.

It’s hypothetical.. so let’s say we can get Olmo/felix/boss man CM

Mate, with all due respect, it’s only 12 July. The window is open for several weeks yet. Judge it then, not now.

Sell Archer and Duran, bring in CM and Olmo/Felix

Archer doesn’t free up a an open spot. He’s club trained and takes up that spot

however Duran is top of my list to sell because we have archer.

or we could sell archer to make room for another club trained player like 👀 Grealish 😂
