We need a cm, I think we should be going over Désiré Doué, looks perfect for us. Spurs are apparently linked, but they have already signed a couple of young midfielders so think we could offer more game time.

But Benfica could?

No, it's bull. Why are Atletico going to take an enormous hit on his book value for FFP?

He isn't what he was anymore.

He can be, we could say the same about all of our players returning from injury. I refuse to write any of them off.

World class on his day.

I don’t blame him for struggling in the worst Italy side I have ever seen.

But I don’t think it’s a move we make unless we move someone on from that department of player.

I like Chiesa but not sure he’s what we need, would much rather sign Gloukh for another younger left-hand side option.

We’re pretty stacked for wide players as it is. Much will depend on who is moved on, if anyone.

I rate Diaby and expect more from him… but I wouldn’t be averse to the rumoured (crazy?) Saudi bid and then boost or refresh our attacking options… seems unlikely though and he will likely show that he really is a top and dangerous player, removing any doubts about that.

JJ (so much more to come) and Rogers are going nowhere and can play in multiple positions.

Bailey is massively important to us and a genuine star player (I’m so glad we have him and Ollie tied down to new and longer deals), absolutely crucial and will do much to determine how we do this season, I bet he’s relishing CL games too. He’s one of the best around if he keeps up and even improves his form and consistency (we need to keep him clear from too many knocks and injuries too).

I like Buendia and it would be cruel to move him on without him getting a chance to prove himself after the injury…

Looking at Iling-Jr as more like the alternative LB to Maatsen (and we could see both Digne and Moreno leave) but he will probably play LM too and a fair bit.

McGinn usually plays RM.

So that’s at least 7 players who can play on either side of midfield… even Tielemans played LM and we have younger players like Dobbins (who I’m not expecting much from initially, likely to go out on loan).

If we sign a SS (like Baena, Félix, maybe Veiga unless he is up to playing CM for us) to play with Ollie, it would mean players that played there last season (Bailey, Diaby, Tielemans, McGinn, Rogers?) playing more often in those wide positions or midfield.

I’d love Chiesa and/or Soule but don’t really see the room atm.

We have to improve defensively and address those deficiencies in defence and midfield. That surely has to be the priority and the easiest or quickest way for us to improve - concede less goals, lose less games.

We can add that spark and creativity in attack too but it’s more important for us to be more solid, robust, resilient and hard to beat or just score against. No more capitulations or thrashings please.

Btw, what stats? Just goals scored? He’s not a CF, how does that tell the full story or give a holistic view of the player? How about all the other metrics, that demonstrate his ability and how he affects games?

I’m honestly not that bothered about him (unless Unai wants him) but it’s important to be fair and look at more of the facts than rumours or fiction. And not rely on hearsay or idle speculation. Barca do not want to lose him.

How about these stats?

What looks BAD there or represents a huge RISK?

🤷‍♂️

The fact that his strongest position is attacking off the left is interesting!

Price will be sky-high now she's headlined Glastonbury.

I genuinely have no idea who tf some of these players are, and feel like an outdated football fan.

Some of these names are hard to believe 😂. That's got to be an 80s French porn star or something... surely??!!!

Felix agreed initially to lower his wages down over £12mill to £344k per year to get his move to Barca so not sure his attitude towards football can be questioned  (I believe if was later bumped up to £3.4mill)

Wait a minute… I’ve just had a look and am quite shocked or surprised. Is this true/accurate or have I misread the whole situation?

So he extended his deal with Atletico before moving to Barca, dropping his (200k odd?) wages to 66k a week??? And Barca only covered a percentage of that, around the 20k mark?

He was that desperate to play for Barca that he reduced his wages to that degree? Dunno how that makes sense and works but… wow.

And his agent was ok with that??

So… what sort of wage would he demand now?

Certainly one that we’d be happy and able to pay, I’d imagine, guess the only obstacle is convincing the player to join (since Unai is a fan and we’ve been previously interested).

This rumoured/potential move just sounds more and more appealing or worthwhile. Plus, as well as boosting income on shirt sales and sponsors/advertising/commercial deals, imagine the profit we could make down the line if he did really well?

I’m a little confused 😆

They’ll all probably find a way for him to continue at Barca anyway 🤷‍♂️

Can't afford Felix's wages

Read up on his contract renewal with Atletico, when he moved to Barcelona.

Quite staggering, a major reduction.

Thank you! I'll be damned if I was going to read about 20 pages to find out.

I did see that benfica thing and sounds like bull to me, Atletico would have to take a massive book loss to do that and Benfica ain't paying his huge contract

Maybe not so much of a loss since his new and vastly reduced contract…

or am I missing or misunderstanding something?

Benfica could easily pay those wages, so could we. Even if he wants a bit more.

That was only because he is a Barca fan. Doubt he is doing for anybody else except maybe Benfica
