As much shite I talk about them ( As they are frustrating with their spending )

They really do a great job with buying up a shed load of young talent and cashing in.

Mental, almost double even Man City!

Southampton too!  4th on the list.

Keen on Maatsen and Gallagher, would be good additions to our squad.  Surely we won't be getting Gallagher, Barkley & Mckennie though.

Not seen a loads of him but does look a bit awkward or cumbersome at times… not exactly a graceful or very skilful player?

Better options?

Love to know who's deeming him as suitable for the prem, arguably its the league where his pace won't save him from his deficiencies. He's another Maicon IMO

Hard pass for the money they want

Except that Man City are listed twice - so when you add them together they end up pretty close to Chelsea.  I have a feeling we might be jumping up a few places in that list this summer (good and bad).  The list does show how big an impact getting relegated has - half the teams there have been relegated at least once during that period and a couple of others have come mighty close.

Mentioned this before, but does anyone notice we tend to get players in " pairs ". I.E we seem to get players who were either team mates previously, currently whether by strategy or design I'm not sure.

Never realised he was Belgian so Youri can put a word in.

I'm not sure it's as true any more. For a while it was a mini trend we had. Players came from countries or similar clubs seemingly to help them integrate. But really a lot came over multiple windows(*) and some of them are just likely when you sign good players, some nations are likely to feature more often

  • Dougie, Wesley (Brazil)
  • Nakamba, Wesley (Brugge)
  • Emi, Emi (Argentina)*
  • Watkins, Konsa (Brentford)*
  • Augustinsson, Carlos (Sevilla)
  • Kamara, Digne (France)*

Personally, I think it was a Suso thing to help them integrate and we have had a few different eras of transfer philosophy with our different directors over the years

  1. Suso: Potential high upside, but risky
  2. Lange: Focus on the future and Academy, high potential kids. With the 'Now' aim being Purslow keeping the fans (replacing Grealish) and then the manager (Gerrard) happy
  3. Monchi: Sell the kids, stay afloat, let Unai cook

We’re going to get into trouble with PSR aren’t we 😂

Not necessarily. If we can raise what we need to for 23/24 before the 30th then other sales (like Luiz) could come after that date and still fit our needs for 24/25 season.

Selling Cash quickly would definitely help, the. Add Tim and Archer and that might get us there. Same if we can get the Duran sale through before the 30th.

What is it we need to raise? 52m or something? That’s a fair old whack in 12 days.

Tim, Duran and Luiz would pretty much cover that and more. Two were just bench warmers aswell.

I think we'll see acceleration on all the deals next week although two of them are playing Copa America.

Think that’s likely to cover both financial years, not the 23/24 deadline on the 30th - but of course none of us actually know the real numbers, and the people who do know wouldn’t be posting details online.

Hmm. It’s all a bit weird at the moment. Don’t know what to make of it. I do think that our recruitment strategy will be based on trades though and I’m not expecting any crazy outlays on individual players. So, maybe players we bring in will all be as a result of someone going in the opposite direction - ie, Dougie.

Have a horrible thought of Arsenal coming in for Dougie offering Smith-Rowe, Tierney, or Nketiah 😬

Think Nketiah would be good backup to Watkins if he was happy to play that role. Not sure who else useful we could realistically get from them though

that might just be the worst group of fullbacks in the PL. Go into a season with 2 untested, unproven RBs who have played some lower league ball and a cb who has played RB.  (I know that Nedeljkovic is highly rated and want him to get a chance, but zero senior RBs in the squad would be utter lunacy imo)

If it wasn't for FFP I'd be happy to spend huge on a new RB, but the second half of the season Konsa more or less established himself as our main RB, also for England, so you could argue we already have one of the best RB:s in the league. I got the impression we bought Nedeljkovic to go in and challange for a starting place next season and I still hope KKH can get some chances. Though I do agree it would be best to bring in a new specialist RB. To me Cash is redundant though and would rather give Ned and KKH a chance.

FFP such a stitch up.

Utd so bad they could have gone down last season. £800m in debt. Looking to buy £50m strikers while we're having to sell players.
