Yeah,  I thought he was a huge prospect but dropping a league at his age suggests we may have been misled. Probably a "flip for profit" one in a couple of years rather than a "work his way into the team" one.

He only turned nineteen this year, for a player that age League One isn't a low level, lots of decent prospects go to get game time in League One, we've been doing incredibly well to be getting as many of our players Championship loans as we have. Lots of people raving about Bogarde after seeing him in a few pre-season games, he hasn't played higher than League One, Jarell Quansah was on loan at Bristol City last season, at an older age than Sousa is now, Alfie Devine at the same age was at Port Vale, Calvin Ramsey was at Bolton

Correct.

He was barely in the Plymouth team last year so, it's not like he's dropping a division particularly.

He's going from not playing in the championship to (hopefully) playing in league one.

All players develop differently. Because they're human.

This is a good move.

The plan is to loan him so he can score a hat-trick against the blose.

I play footie with a Gas-head most weeks so it's been good getting little updates on Bogarde over the last couple of years (anecdotaly he was better under Barton in his first loan fwiw). As other have said surely it's better to be getting regular games in L1 than sitting on the bench in the Championship. It's hardly turning out for Worcester Town in the 8th tier or something is it?

He's been given the number 3 shirt and sounds like he's fancied as a flying winger as the write-up mentioned he wants to provide goals and assists, not normally something a defender is promising the fans in their first interview. Seems a nice well spoken lad. Fingers crossed it all goes well for him.

Edit: in terms of coaching Matt Taylor is a great manager for someone in his position to be learning from.

Its not the Matt Taylor that played left back in Premier League, he is further down the pyramid

  • 4 weeks later...

Bristol Rovers lose again, and some of their fans are calling for a change of manager, but from some of the comments I've seen seems he had a good game today, and got an assist, also looks like he started on the right in a 3142 system.
