paddy
Deano, first Villa hero I've had and I'll always look back on him as an absolute legend
dont_do_it_doug.
Deano, by a gnats hair. Agree with Paddy, my first Villa hero. Although I do rate Yorke as the better player.
theboyangel
Dwight Yorke for me - for the money (and tracksuits alledgedly) spent to aquire his services and the ammount we sold him for was an absolute bargain. His tricks and creativity on the pitch were dazzling and that penalty against the Arse where he chipped it so it casually bounced over the line was sublime He had his best years at the Villa (both on and off the pitch) and IMO is a Villa legend (shame he went to the b-lose though  )
christaffy
Deano - absolute legend.
steell
For overall pace, ability and finishing (as well as being one of the greatest headers of the ball I've ever seen) I think it'll be a while before we see anyone as good as Yorke in a Villa shirt. That was until he started to appear in Bozzie's porn films.......
pablopicasso
saunders.. simply becuase he wasnt a money grabbing clearing in the woods who turned on the fans who idolised him... used to baffle me how saunders never bit his toungue off when playing... it spent more time out of his mouth than in... ianrobo1
Course it is Yorke by a distance, quality player and the only forward we have had in my lifetime of watching Villa who was good enough to play for the very best teams. Dean Saunders had one great spell for about 30 games and that was it, plenty of running, plenty of hitting bars but not quite good enough.
TRL
Yorke.
SoccerHQ
Dwight Yorke easily. And he was right to go sadly.
ianrobo1
Course he was only the very dumb can not begrudge a player for leaving us to go to Man Ure and three tophies and 30 goals in a season proved this. what I was angry about when he left was it was the time I realised the club had given up on their little ambition for us. irishmangiant
Deano for me... Was a direct player like Van Nistelrooy, and aggressive like .... someone who is aggressive. I enjoyed when Dwight Yorke was at the club, he was a flair player, but I could never take losing him to Manchester Ushited.
brendanvillatalk
Sorry to comment on this so late but what I loved about the Deano signing was that Big Ron was on the pitch talking to the fans before we signed him and he said - 'we're doing everything we can to bring Dean Saunders to this club' - then he had that debut against Liverpool - happy days....... BOF Posted August 10, 2005 Moderator Share Posted August 10, 2005 Definitely Dwight Yorke. Best forward this club has had for a long long time.
villahero
I'd say Yorkie but i will always love deano for saying on sky we were the best club he'd ever played for
Pelle
Hm, tough call beteween Atkinson, mostly 'cause he scored probably the best goal ever on VP, Deano, well, he was Deano and was a pure finishing talent. Maybe our best finisher since Platt, and always a happy face, and, oh, that tongue of his and Yorke of course. And I'd go for Yorke in the end. But for Deano, he didn't make his debut against Liverpool. He made his home-debut against Pool but his real debut was against Leeds scoring a goal that was disallowed 'cause of offside, an arguable offside. Wrong? brendanvillatalk
Ah yes I remeber now - Steve Hodge scored the equaliser as I recall. I think Gary Parker got our goal.....
John
Saunders was the one for me and as a midfield player Platt scored as many as most of our strikers in this period.
