VillaAlex
We will probably beat United on boxing day and be lamenting we could have been top if we beat Sheff Utd. 1

JoshVilla
So, do we hope that Arse beat Plop tomorrow so we stay in 2nd place for Xmas? Or do we hope for a draw so that we remain 1pt off top?
HeyAnty
progress being made. Making that final step now to get past teams that sit in can be a tough one to crack!

Condimentalist
No need to panic. We played well without being truly incisive enough. We will need to get used to the occasional side playing like that at VP. Hopefully we can bounce back with a win at OT. Would you bet against us? Strog
I don’t think we can win it, but we’re still in the race. I’ll take top 4 and a trophy instead
VillaChris
This felt a bit like all those endless games we couldn't win last season to just get in the top half. Then we beat Chelsea, got into top 10 and kicked on from there. This will be a good lesson tonight for the team mentality. I wouldn't say there was pressure but there was expectation we'd comfortably win the game to go top and we didn't come close to seizing the opportunity. Hopefully it's not the last chance we get in next few weeks but a useful reality check all the same as what's for certain is they'll be far more high pressure games than this in the next five months so we need to be ready for them.

No fatalities, but a number of broken legs caused by debris.
Popular Post Kiwivillan
People need to be reminded that low block, anti-football teams that shouldn't be in the division are going to park the bus and take points of title contenders over the course of the season. We saw it recently with Manure away to Liverpool 3
Vive_La_Villa
We ain’t winning the league but the longer this thread is active the higher the chances of top 4. So I’m happy to see this thread.

VillaJ100
Thing is when city and spurs inevitably win we're like 1 and 3 points ahead of them and suddenly in a battle to stay top 4. Dropping 5 points to the absolutely shit show that are forest and Sheffield is unforgivable

We can’t win them all. 3

It happens and you move on to the next game. I think Emery hoped to play in an energy conserving style, similar to how we've played in Europe, get the three points and have more umphh left for boxing day. We were three shit VAR calls away from it happening
