Well I'm happy to say at 86 minutes I'd more or less given up. We were clearly the better team throughout the match but seemed to be heading to an annoying defeat. Turning it round, never giving up, getting a real 'moment of magic', never being dead and buried: very nice to see. But if we'd taken some of our chances in the first half it wouldn't have mattered.

Was a poor game, thought we was far too slow in possession, glad we got the 3 points, superb goal from Duran, think soon as he come on it changed the game as he can hold up the ball

That was a huge result for Villa, as they desperately need to get some points on the board, before they do the mid-season heavy-lifting and things get really tough.

Judging by his personal highlights, that was not an untypical goal from Duran; it certainly shook up Palace but the scoreline flattered Villa and the penalty decision flattered the referee.

Performance was disjointed against a poor Palace side.

Should have go in at HT leading, we didn’t and got punished. Got a bit frustrating after that but we kept going and got a very good 3 points in the end.

Our style in possession is meant to be slow, take our time draw the opposition to the ball then bang quickly move the ball forward into the space. Then if it gets shutdown play it either across or backwards, if backwards start again with slow, if across probe. Palace did well not to take the bait most of time. They're a good team, that aim to nullify opposition then hit on the counter.
