I'm now getting a better understanding of why, we aren't opposed to signing the odd 28, 29, 30 year old with high level pedigree to help us NOW.

Obviously we also have our longer term strategy of recruiting elite level , young understudies which we hope will be ready in time for succession.

Like it.

Guess we can rule this one out, unless we make a sudden/shock announcement… might have been a decent move for a decent/low fee… but we were probably never interested.

Are we doing a Brighton now like everybody wanted?  Will people still be annoyed when these players aren't PL ready for another couple of seasons?  Judging by the responses in the Duran thread... 🤣

The signing & target of Nedeljkovic & Kilicsoy seem like something many of us would do in a Championship/Football manager game 😂

Exciting… search for and recruit the best young talent (potential stars), get ahead of big/rival clubs and cost a lot less than renowned or established players… and possibly become even better than them…

The kind of moves to be expected from Monchi… but… hopefully we’ll sign one or two players now and for the shorter term to help us out…

We just won’t be going for known or PL players on massive wages and costing huge fees… makes no sense really…

-

So positive to be looking the future too… maybe we are not as restricted as it is being made out… we are building something special and to last…

If he was fit then yeah he'd be great. But he spends an awful lot of time on the treatment table. And the prem is a faster, more physical league than serie A, which means more injuries. Also wrong side of 30 which also means more injuries.

Hopefully, it means we’re taking a more “holistic” approach or covering all bases for the good and future of the club…

The only concern was that we are restricted by FFP but maybe we are being clever enough to negotiate our way around it… or not quite as “handicapped” as has been made out…

This is Monchi’s time now too (not Lange’s or Mackenzie’s), in close collaboration with Unai…

Proper scouting and identification of key targets that actually fit in and help improve us, while providing value… it’s the best way forward… rather than a random or reckless kind of approach, no more desperate/panic signings that won’t be up to snuff, that we regret and will be looking to offload shortly thereafter (we have and are trying to get rid of all those)…

Acting like a big/proper club and taking a more broad approach… we’re growing up 😂

I’ll admit, I’m more excited to see players signing that will improve and add to the first team in the shorter term…

But we have to look for future talent and potential too to keep growing… some of these players could end up being stars for us…

Yeah, that’s the main concern…

not one I was clamouring for personally, but would have been excited if Unai was actually interested..

didn’t realise he was top assister in Serie A last season, maybe could’ve helped us out…

Well if we can't develop players in the first team like Brighton do I doubt we'd get such good results.

Also that Barco kid they just picked is a HUGE talent. Tipped to be world class by most in Argentina.

Have we heard any more about the Oscar Gloukh links as I seem to recall there were few a while back.

Signing Israeli players might be a bit of a risk atm.

Not for a while, don’t think it was a genuine link or from a legit source… a lot of interest in him…

Same goes for Bardghji

But, you never know…

Especially with us now signing Nedeljkovic

Maybe we’re trying to snap up all the best young talent around 😁

How about the South American market? 😃

Can see we’re replicating the Red Bull strategy of targeting players young who grow hopefully into full first team / squad players by going through the V.Sports system. We have Real Union link up for our home grown produced youngsters to get a taste of competitive football just like with FC Liefering at a lower level. We then have the link up (which comes into effect sept 2024) with Vitoria S.C for prospects like Kılıçsoy & Nedeljkovic to get regular first team football at a more competitive level before graduating hopefully to our squad…

Maybe we are waiting for todays FFP breach announcements before making moves for players like Bardghji or Gloukh…

Chelsea seem to be all over the Brazilian market with their scattergun approach hoping to find the next big one. Brighton have their fingers on the pulse for sure with the South American market. Maybe we’re looking at Eastern Europe / Scandinavia markets … Who knows other than it’s an exciting time to be a Villa fan !

I do absolutely love it on Twitter when fans hear there is a relatively low release clause for a player and start wondering why it is they haven’t signed the player yet? Almost as if it’s a straight forward move now there is said release clause.

Of course, in the real world, it probably makes it infinitely harder as absolutely every agent and club is of course aware of that clause, as is the player so the wage demands will be ridiculous and just the general strings attached to that deal would probably be ludicrous.

But, but FM innit.
