Prior to this game, West Ham had played Brighton 12 times in the PL and lost 6 of them and drawn the other 6, so it’s not a brilliant record, however….perhaps there is a first time for everything!

Our own record v West Ham must be as bad as that!

Hopefully that can change this season but Alvarez and JWP are very decent signings to replace the Rice void.

Very good result for us if this stands.

Don't want Brighton going crazy and winning their first 5-6 games and getting 10 + point lead on us. As we saw last season we couldn't quite claw everyone back who had that three month head start on us and they'll have Thursday-Sunday just like us from next month.

Brighton got 1.53 ppg under De Zerbi last season. We got 1.96 ppg with Unai. They have a way to go yet to match our consistency.

With so much rubbish in the bottom half you'd expect them to be in the 55-60 points range with their general level so we can't get complacent.

They are also capable of sticking 6s and 4s past Wolves, we aren't quite so good at that yet.

They always beat West Ham so not beating them today is good and they then have Newcastle and Man. United so they'll be dropping of points from someone in top 6.

It’s strange as we always seem to match up well against Brighton and have often beat them since our promotion season but always struggle against West Ham who themselves struggle against Brighton!

Not talking about complacency, just looking at last season's form and they won 14 and lost 11 games under De Zerbi. We won 15 and lost 6 under Emery. Brighton play good football and can score plenty, but they aren't the unstoppable force that the media make them out to be.
