You'd have thought so. We paid between £36m and £38m for him upfront. The rest of the reported fee would have been the add ons contingent on certain milestones being met, but it's impossible to find out what they are from the accounts. We've got a combined £60m of such contingent liabilities, but again it's impossible to more than guess at who they relate to, or what targets have to be hit for them to solidify.

You know this deal isn’t being done on Facebook marketplace, right?

No PayPal protection?

Sorry mr Monchi, we do not have PayPal in Saudi Arabia, we can do transfer in Saudi coin, the latest cryptocurrency. It will be worth 100000000x this time next year!!!

If Diaby does leave, and with Luiz already gone, we've lost our 3rd and 4th highest goal contributors from last season in one window. That's a big blow no matter how much you rate them as players.

I trust Emery and Monchi know what they're doing, but that's going to be difficult to replace.

Would be sad to see him go, quite have liked to see what he could've done with a year under his belt. The boy could finish so gutted we could lose quite a bit of fire power. Luiz and Diaby would be a huge loss.

Wouldn't be surprised that he'd consider Saudi, big money for his family and also he is Muslim so makes sense to go to an Islamic country

They don't really have a leg to stand on.

Benzema has asked for him personally (apparently) and will probably throw a hissy if they don't get it over the line, plus they basically have unlimited money

Unlikely. Add ons are more related to individual performances than team ones. So would be numbers of games goals and assists, along with internal caps etc..

The money doesn’t actually matter. Our owners are richer than god. Just matters that there is a contract with the sale price written on so we can bank it as an accounting profit for PSR. The sad state of modern football.

This is exactly right. Can sit on our books as debt owed to us forever and be fine for the accounts.

Good to see Emery considering him an important player. They will probably have to pay insane money for this deal, hopefully so much that they back out.

They're offering £46m at the moment, that's not a million miles away.

agree. we hold the cards here. we don't want/need to sell, but every player has a price

i'd be sad to see him go. 60m quid is all well and good to use for a replacement but it guarantees you nothing (though i'd be more than happy to drop that on eze, if he was open to the move)

£10m isn’t significant profit though.

At a guess if some of the add-ons got triggered then we may have paid £40m, minus one year is £32m, if we can squeeze it up to £55m-£60m then it's £23m-£28m profit.

£36.5m + say £5.5m add-ons by now.  So £42m cost so far. The £36.5 over 5 years means he has a current PSR value of £29.2m.

If we get £60m for him, we've doubled his current value.  PSR profit would be £31m.

That £31m allows us to spend £60-80m on incoming transfer fees.
