And he'll be pulling another £25m in wages in his current contract. He's an expensive player. He's not played consistently. He was given a lot of chances. I totally agree with the general consensus that he's been decent but not pulled up any trees. He doesn't have a firm grasp of any particular position in our starting eleven and, despite putting up some good numbers (especially for a first season in the PL), he is very lightweight and gets outmuscled very easily. But, for some reason, I'd still be disappointed if he left. I think it may be because it was a real statement signing and it really set our collective imaginations off? Delphinho123 Posted July 16 Author Share Posted July 16 Why would anyone be sad about this? It’s not like he’s some £5-10m player we’ve taken a gamble on from the lower leagues. I imagine, with the add ons paid, he’s probably our record signing and he’s at best, a bench option this season. We’re being given the chance to get rid of what could be (provided he doesn’t improve massively) a very expensive mistake by the club. Will give us a bit of freedom to shape the squad whilst losing 2 somewhat "bit part" players.
