Aston_Villan4 Posted Saturday at 16:07 Share Posted Saturday at 16:07 He also just stood there when Diop got that header.
Zhan_Zhuang Posted Saturday at 16:12 Share Posted Saturday at 16:12 Pau Torres gets turned inside out at least once very game... But yet his offensive play is good, yes we know... Still, it's annoying. His defending for the first was awful. He had the opportunity to get his head on it but he deliberated and let Jimenez in for a sniff...

lexicon Posted Saturday at 16:17 Share Posted Saturday at 16:17 Woeful for the goal but very good apart from it, really.
HanoiVillan Posted Saturday at 16:19 Share Posted Saturday at 16:19 95%+ of his game is absolutely world class, but you can see why other top PL sides had decided to pass on him given his physical limitations. Disappointing for him but luckily it happened in the first five minutes and he was mostly excellent after that. I don't think he'll ever be completely free of those moments tbh, but his contributions are more than worth the occasional rick.
Pongo Waring Posted Saturday at 16:21 Share Posted Saturday at 16:21 I love watching him play. His body feints are top.

The right program could potentially get his " fast twitch " muscles stronger and help with a quicker turn of pace
VillaChris Posted Saturday at 16:23 Share Posted Saturday at 16:23 Pau is what he is. Great for the slower paced games where he can stride forward and also good when he's playing a CF who isn't too interested in a physical battle. Today was really poor for the first goal. He just needs to speed up and head it clear. Instead he seems more worried where Jimenez is and then too easily gets nudged off the ball. Ultimately we signed him to help us get CL and he's done that and was brilliant in the Bayern game. I think once Mings is fully fit we'll see a bit of rotation and Mings will come in for games like this, Everton/Ipswich etc as we're simply gifting too many soft goals too often against lower half teams.

Mings, assuming his body still works, is better for matches that are expected to be physical. But by observing that, Pau will know that no matter what he does he can't let himself by out-muscled. Tomaszk Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 He's too beautiful to be a centre half. He's too beautiful for football. He should be in an art gallery or something. Towards the end of the first half he brought it down on his chest facing his own goal in the most wonderful way. It was so so good. Immediately scared off the forward as he's so in control of it and we're back in possession. That goal is quite funny really. We've succeeded. We've cut off all the passes and closed them down sufficiently. So they have to boot it. And they score. So so bad from Pau that goal. He needs to toughen up and deal with stuff like that because it's not difficult. You don't even have to win it cleanly! Just make it a mess. You can't let them get a shot off from that type of approach. He knows it, Emery knows it, I'm confident he'll try to work on it. I am not confident he'll succeed But he will remain oh so beautiful.
PaulC Posted Saturday at 17:31 Share Posted Saturday at 17:31 No matter his faults. He's integral to the way we play and there's no way Emery would consider dropping him.
