Popular Post Oaks
Reading some of this thread you would believe Torres cant defend and Mings was a clobbber who cant pass the ball. The truth is Torres is a very good defender with some weaknesses, and Mings is good with the ball at his feet just not as good as Torres. Some very odd takes in this thread

honest_bertie
The whole who's better debate between Ty and Pau is kind of pointless, different styles of defender. Also it ignores and dismisses the talent these guys have to face… mistakes happen, even to the very best defenders… Emi is the best keeper in the world but still can make a mistake. Would be great if a Ezri, Ty and Pau system somehow could work. Also worth remembering this is Pau’s first season in a new league and new country., considering I think he’s overall been phenomenal. PeterSw
I think we'll see a lot of Konsa/Mings/Torres back 3 combinations next season if Ty can get back to form before the injury. Konsa at RB and an attacking LB or Torres at LB and an attacking RB playing 3241 in attack
T-Dog
We turning on one of best players this season because an established player might be back in the fold next season? Nope, I'd have a squad with both of them beautiful bastards in all day every day. They're different players, but both have attributes that we should be utilising. Distressingly slow and weak. Fails to cut out plenty of threats in his vicinity. No argument on the ball he's fantastic. He's that good the confidence emanates from him to the rest of the side - very important to us.

CarryOnVilla
Is the manager just the Spanish Cocknose? Edited May 27 by CarryOnVilla

Ok well then I expect Spain to win the Euros without conceding a goal if that's the case. Madness.
Herman22
I’m sure he’s disappointed but it’s better for Villa. Get a rested Pau for the start of a tough season.
wishywashy
Playing someone like Pau would mean the Spanish national team would probably create chances of note, can't have that. They're more than content to play over 1000 passes just to have 1 shot on target: which is exactly how they got knocked out of the last World Cup. From a selfish Villa perspective, it's a well deserved break. From his perspective, I'd be wondering how on earth he didn't get in?
StewieGriffin
Maybe their coach thinks he's an average PL 'defender' at best. Distressingly slow and weak. Fails to cut out plenty of threats in his vicinity 3
Tom13
I'd be interested to see who starts for them. Laporte and Pau started one tournament together and tbh they were very similar. Laporte more of a presence. Pau's passing is better however and it's a real shock he's not going.
MWARLEY2
If you are not basing your game around his ability to build and control pace of passing then there are plenty of better defenders out there.

This is Spain we're talking about though. Although I've no idea how their new coach operates tbf.
VillaChris
He was obviously playing with an injury in the run in. So quite good news for us I think that him and Bailey aren't involved in any tournaments and get a full six weeks off now.
